Guardiola: Liverpool's academy can rival Barcelona's

Guardiola praises academy
Liverpool fans might have got frustrated at the time by Rafa Benitez’s love of signing 16 and 17-year-old kids, but his policy will pay dividends in the long-term. That’s according to Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola.

The Champions League-winning coach reckons the Reds’ Academy could soon rival Barca’s own production line.

Guardiola is quoted as telling Catalan radio: “Liverpool Academy is the only one who can compete at "La Masia". If they can manage those lads, then maybe 20 star players can arrive from that academy.”

There is no "one" source, as it's all over the 'net. Just Google it.

High praise from Guardiola indeed.

And the best thing is, he's probably right.

But yes it is looking good.

Hope he's right. Guess he misses Rodolfo and Segura

Many failed to see the impact Rafa had at the academy & just how much he has secured our future talent by bringing in Rodolfo and Pep.

Nice from guardiola to ackowledge rafa's work and where he see'e english dominance re-emerging from anfield.

So you have your little point scoring with Jones, Fergie.
You are obsessed by us.

We have the Academy and all the seedlings growing  ......plus no club debt.

Five years ahead.

Somewhere you would like to be?  Mind you. You know all about taking Barca seriously, dont you.

Knocked the old shine off 19 what with the CL Final downer ....and the parade in the pissin rain. :lmao:

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot;
Follow your spirit: and upon this charge,
Cry — God for Harry! England and Saint Gerrard!

The Barcelona-Liverpool love continues.

Actually, I'm inclined to believe in it myself. I mean, in the last 10 years of being a Liverpool fan, I'm very much looking forward to see the youngsters in the near future. Would really love to see Suso.

Forgot to add, most people forget that it was Rafa who revamped the Academy. At least right now, we're seeing his effort through Kenny.

EDIT

Hahaha.. I googled "guardiola Liverpool" and I found an article from 10 years ago in which Gerard Houllier was interested in signing Guardiola from Barcelona!

Més que un club

Nice one Pep.

Sorry we nicked Rodolfo.

Meh they pinched Masch, swings and roundabouts and all that. :D

Still high praise indeed from Guardiola, could he be hinting for a position at Anfield following Barcelona and when Kenny hangs up his boots.

It's really positive that comment will be a great boost of the academy lads's confident. I hope now some Rafa hater will at least appreciate what that man tried to do for our football club.

Well in for Pep recognizing the work Rafa did in bringing in Borrel and Segura.  Like many on here, I believe that we have a number of future stars in the academy.  Listen to the coaches (most importantly Kenny) and you lads will be great!  YNWA

No one forget our very own 'Pep' Segura, who's an integral part of the Academy now alongside Borrell!

Just ran into this actually, haven't given it a listen yet but will do soon, looks good nonetheless:
