Why is Henderson, Allen, Gerrard not scoring goals for us?

We need goals from midfield and we're being let down badly by Henderson et al

Forget scoring goals, can they just try to, you know, play half decent?  not give the ball away?  not be afraid of their own shadows?

goal scoring can come later.  Baby steps please.

He was totally anonymous today.  Has been for most of the season to be honest.

Stifled by the lack of movement ahead of him which would have allowed him more space to operate in, still absolutely no excuses for the lack of technical abillity shown this season some of the basics like ball control have been awful and amateurish at times.

Can't blame Brendan if the lad can't control the ball.

This is exactly the reason I start worrying about my club, is there isn't that much actual intelligence out there on the pitch. To be totally honest.

He needs time on the bench. Doesn't deserve to walk into the team at all this season.

He is and will never be one of the best, He is a good midfielder who has limited abilities, shows up in some games, passes the ball well, runs a lot and has really good performances here and there, but he will never be a dominant type of midfielder we saw in Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano, Hamann, etc... He can't dominate the midfield on his own (something that Gerrard did at his age) that's why I think many of us overrate him and expect from him way too much.

No mate he is a average premier league performer.

You could be forgiven to think he didn't even play today.

He's been awful all season to be fair.

He's been carrying injuries most of the season, and looks tired.

Not average mate, a good one, not the best and shouldn't be considered one of the best.

Ridiculous that a lot of our fans sometimes tend to overrate our own players, I read some that he could be our next ''Gerrard'' when he is not even close to the level of Gerrard. I remember Stevie at the age of 24 used to dominate the midfield on his OWN.

Henderson is a hardworker, can pass and can press, but he doesn't show enough authority, he never did. He can play really well against weaker teams but when it comes to bigger games he hides and doesn't show that type of authority you expect from a dominant midfielder.

The excuse I always hear from others is that ''Well he has to carry other midfielders, so it's not his fault'' is a lame excuse to cover his weaknesses and limited ability he has.

His footballing brain is non-existent compared to Gerrard. He makes a LOT of unnecessary passes that keep putting other players under pressure.

Lost the ball 8 times in the first 15 minutes of the England game. Not that I care about performances for the English team, but it can't be good, can it?

As long as he doesn't play like that for us is all that matters.

He is going through a tough period. He is not good technically, but can pick a pass if not pressurized. And know when to make a run. But with our current set up/players, there is no space/movement upfront and he struggled(Our whole mid field struggling for that matter). Now i think his confidence is shot, and he is now back to his old self where he is afraid of the ball/panics when receive under pressure .

As long as he doesn't play like that for us is all that matters.

Surprised I had to look so far down the threads to see no recent mention of Hendo. Had a good game last night and shows how much he can give to the team, hope he stays in form and we will improve straight away.

I didn't really see it.  Other than that goal he didn't do anything.

Agree he was annonymous throughut the context.

He just runs and runs and then runs some more, needs to be more creative with the ball at his feet when you look at the key position and role he supposedly plays in the team.
