His pace and technique no doubt will be an asset to the club, i just hope he is hard working enough to help out his fullbacks, as to be a success in this team, i think he will need to work hard on and off the ball.

I personally am really pleased he has come, I think he will give us something we havnt had for a while, a natural left foot option.. He is more flexable than alot of " experts" are giving him credit for as well, as posted by many he is just as comfortable on the right as the left which will complement luis.. They can switch and swap all game.

I'm slightly fed up of the moaning regarding his price, in the press etc.. Let him just get on with it.. Kenny wanted him and the owners have backed him with the funds which is great, I for one have been so frustrated over the last few years that the previous owners wouldn't back the manager with the funds he needed, we can't say that now. Villa wanted a good fee for him which is fair, they paid 12 million for him when he had an injury and he has been a success for them including player of the year last season.. Is 6 million profit that much for them seeing as he has improved as a player since they had him? Like I say I'm just pleased the owners have backed the manager with the funds rather than missing out like rafa did.. What did he say.. I'm trying to catch ferarris with a ten year old BMW..

yeah was certainly a solid debut, switching wings effectively which is something we haven't had the option of reliably for a long, long time.

Downing IMO is more effective on the right, when cutting inside, i know he was bought for the width he can bring to the team however i would prefer it if he played on the right, as i am not confident with Kuyt on the right, maybe we need to acquire another winger before the window closes.

He's got a good right foot! Didn't realise he had such a good right foot and he's also quick. Very nice debut from him, can't wait to see more.

But he is just one guy. We have ONE quality winger in the squad. That is unnacceptable IMO. Maxi looked good at the end of the last season, but he is 30 and past his best. Kuyt is everything but a winger and I hope we won't forcibly play Hendo on the sides because he has the potential to become very good CM.

I'm not sure what Kenny has in mind but every team needs at least a couple of good, natural wingers. Wouldn't you agree?
