Download android's advanced task killer. You can manually close programs that run in the background when you don't want them to. It shows how much batter you've got remaining too. I find it very useful.

Otherwise just keep your wifi off when not using it, wifi quite literally eats up battery very fast.

Don't know about mobile data but I think it uses up less battery as compared to wifi. Wifi is very heavy on battery, more than mobile data maybe. Try doing it the other way round, you know, keeping wifi off and mobile data on. See if that helps.

I have that app and keep my wifi off when not needed, so battery is not really much of an issue for me.

Whatsapp, angry birds, task killer.... Don't use them too much now. Its only in the beginning that you install all apps and explore them. After a while its back to just texting and calling. For me atleast. :D

Mates use whatsapp, personally i prefer ping chat. Do you use a customized web browser because it seems to me that the default browser uses a lot of ram, therefore draining battery.

Viber is a sexy app too. Is it available on android though? I just use it with my ipod touch.

I use Dolphin Browser or Opera, default browser isn't good enough.
