We all love tv documentaries so I was wondering what you lot's favourite tv documentaries ever and maybe some documentaries you highly recommend. Personally I've always been a fan of Bruce Parry's documentaries especially the arctic series he did earlier this year. I also love anything that is presented by Michael Palin especially Around The World In 80 Days which is probably the best documentary series I have ever seen. Palin's the only man who can make anything interesting!

The BBC ones about our Planet Earth, I think its around 7 documentaries, that is some class act stuff! really enjoyed it

I watched Zeitgest, which was really interesting and some of Michael Moore's documentaries were class act as well

I never saw all of Planet Earth but it looked stunning from what I saw of. The Blue Planet is another one that comes to mind.

I love documentaries and you can add almost anything by David Attenborough to my favourites and Planet Earth on Bluray is still one the finest example of what Bluray can do.

Another couple of the top of my head I would recommend are two documentary films.

Totally agree with the David Attenborough comments. If/when I get a blu-ray player then I will definitely be buying 'Planet Earth', 'Blue Planet' and 'Life'. I used to Sky+ them and watch them with my kids at the weekends, we loved them. I like most nature programs but most of the footage in those is absolutely stunning!

Aside from that I like pretty much all Louis Theroux documentories. I know he's not to everybody's taste but the way gets responses from people by acting innocently as though he doesn't know what's going on is brilliant, he's like Columbo in that sense!  :D

Ross Kemp as well, love his documentory's, particularly his 'On Gangs' series'.

How about 'An Idiot Abroad', do they count? haha

Coast is brilliant, also (forgive the morbidness) Air Crash investigation on Nat Geo is quite eye opening, especially the ones when the crew are ale to recover the jet safely to the nearest airfield.

Got to admit and know sometimes they are full of bullshit, but I do like the football hooligan documentaries

Two of the best I've seen are from the BBC - Kicking Off

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GcpxjejhfU&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLF2947DFCEE206383

and Hooligans: Untold Story, which covered fans behaviour from the Germany World Cup

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOTGe12Wu0U&feature=related

They're just both clips, there are further parts on you tube.

      Always preferred Mockumentaries, Brasseye style.

Inside Natures Giants was stunning though and anything with David Attenborough is worth a watch.  Walking with dinosaurs was excellent, but I did have the misfortune of watching Dinosaur Planet voiced by (a slightly disinterested?) Christian Slater.

Banged up abroad last night was a good one, was about Henry Hill, the original Goodfella. If your a Mafia head like myself it's a must watch. Was on Nat Geo, no doubt be repeated about 20 times.

Definitely giving Goodfellas a watch tonight after that :)
