              Gerrard  Hendo
      Sterling                     Lallana
              Balotelli
                          Sturridge

I do like this because it works with a few players without having to change the system too much or too often. When/if Balo is having an off day, Couts can come in. When/if Gerrard or Hendo are having off days or need a rest, Can can come in. In fact, I think Hendo has the potential to develop his passing game and replace Stevie, with can doing the Masherano role.

Wonder why Stevie's little girl is wearing a Bayern top? Just saying like.

      Alonso must have told him.

      I agree.

Exciting times with such depth in our squad.

Just seen a bit on Sky about some of the charity work Stevie puts in. Fair play to him, clearly money is no object to him but the fact he gives up his time to his foundation and other community efforts is first class, he's become a terrific ambassador not just for the club but football in general

Good to see there are no hard feelings between them two.

Gerrard has lost so many good players down the years while being loyal to the club and lost many friends too I guess, hope these two stay in contact.

I know we have little options but three games in a week is beyond Stevie at this point in his career.

The way he has played so far this season its debatable if it's one game a week.

Someone mentioned on the forum previously if he is still wondering about the slip last season, he certainly doesn't seem to be fully focused, I noticed him quite a few times just letting play bypass him. That's not the Stevie I recall.

      Looked awful yesterday.

Let's make no bones about this - Gerrard is in perpetual decline and no romanticising about him will change that fact. Where he did well in adapting to a deeper role we must realise that he isn't the long term solution to this and in January we must address it.

I dream everyday that he scores the title-winning goal in the last seconds of the game, like he did with Olympiakos ...

“I can take constructive criticism, but people go one step further and say you’re finished and can’t run anymore and that's the frustrating things. So it’s nice to remind people I can still play and I am still around."

Back at his very best today, 1 minute to be the match winner in a crucial game for the season.
"When the going gets tough, the toughs get going", so this is Gerrard with big matches. Goosebumps when he netted the ball and celebrated. Eternal Captain.

Great first half in his classic lower position, I remember so many long passes without any single mistake. Then, chills seeing him in his "old" upper position in the last 15 minutes, fantastic performance, had one or two great touches with Balotelli, the 1-2, the back heel after a 30 meters run in 92' minute. Still Captain Fantastic. Finished who?

Think from what we saw last performance he shouldn't be doing the "anchor" "pirlo" "quarterback" or what ever you want to call it role.
I'd rather he played 2 out of 3 games more attacking and get a rest than 3 out of 3 sat back being the Captian Fantastico we don't like to see.

So I would rather see Allen, Can, Lucas or Hendo play the DM or deep lying MF role as opposed to Gerrard. He looked great in the advanced role and shows he can really be instrumental for us still.

However I cant see him doing that for 90mins. New super sub maybe.

Personally think Stevie had a pretty bad performance last night. Loads of loose balls, hasn't the legs on him to chase the game out.

He can't be guaranteed a starting berth every game. 2 games a week aren't going to help.

He has given us so much over the years and was loyal during his peak, for that alone, I would like to see us give him a 2 year contact. I hope he stays.

I still think he's capable, just needs a proper defensive midfielder and to play more freely.
