I cannot imagine Stevie playing for another club tbh, I am sure that he will remain at the club. After all he is one of the game's most loyal servants.

Steven Gerrard to Manchester City: Premier League champions interested in signing Reds skipperā€¦

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed his interest in signing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Pellegrini has been impressed with the impact of 36-year-old Frank Lampard so far this year, and would be willing to sign Gerrard on a similar short term deal.

Pellegrini believes the Liverpool captain can go for two more years, and has thrown his hat in the ring for the former England international, who has reportedly received private assurances from his current club that they want him to stay.

City boss Pellegrini said: ā€œI donā€™t ever rate players on their age. It depends on the money they cost and the number of years they can play for. Like Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard is a top player and he can continue at a high level for a couple more years.ā€

Kop legend Gerrard, 34, revealed last week that with his current Anfield contract running out next summer he has no plans to retire so would be happy to play for someone else.

The club have reacted quickly to give Gerrard private assurances they want him to stay and on Saturday manager Brendan Rodgers said: ā€œI had a meeting with Stevenā€™s representative explaining the situation. I very much want him to be a part of what we are doing here. Heā€™s been a brilliant captain for me. I relayed that to the ownership.ā€

But until a contract is signed, clubs like City will watch with interest. Pellegrini needs bargains with City hamstrung by Financial Fair Play rules and the need to include more Englishmen in their Premier League squad.

The deal they're talking about is only the same basically that any top flight club would offer SG, the difference being the lad has no emotional connections with any other club but LFC.
It's what's at the end of his probable remaining two seasons that your man there is contemplating and his heart will rule.

Ok, so Pelligrini has desires for our Stevie,  that's fine, he can have him then just as long as he throws in kompany as a goodwill gesture, we can then slot Lucas in as dm until the summer, we'll have a top cb  to organise at the back, Stevie possibly gets his missing medal, Lucas gets regular footie, happy days,........

.......and Aguero signs for us next season  :f_whistle:

I don't mind him joining city and winning PL medal with them. This guy deserves it, sadly its not going to happen with him playing for us.

Should leave at summer and experience football elsewhere as he's been linked with the best teams in the world all his career and deserves a winners medal.

Also means we ship out the deadwood player he has turned into!

Which top team wants a 34 year old who's legs have gone?

As Bob Paisley once said "let a player age on someone else's pitch".

tbf, what happened on that day was incredible funny for any non Liverpool supporters. The man who wanted that medal more than anyone else, the man who said " this does not slip now" , then that happened.  The worst thing we should do is to get wound up listening to that. Just ignore that.

Nothing funny about it at all. Bunch of cu*ts the lot of them...I can understand those Chav cu*ts singing it, possibly the Mancs and Bitters but as for the rest of those other Clubs, they can F**k right off. We don't sing sh*t about them.

Ignore it....its impossible to ignore it!

Liverpool have offered Steven Gerrard a new contract but have yet to receive a response or a counter offer #LFC

Worth saying that money is not an issue for Steven Gerrard or #LFC with regards the potential new contract.

Key to Steven Gerrard's decision on this #LFC contract will be how much he thinks he will play this/next season. Not straightforward

top man legend but i reckon he's going to wait out to see what offers come in Jan say maybe from Spain,USA,Germany, italy as at best he's got one more season at top level maybe two if he can deal with being an impact player and not a starter week in week out.

either way he's been the heartbeat of the club for 16yrs and we will all respect whatever he chooses to do next.. aprt from join another Prem team(which he wont do)

      Gerrard offered new - Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Steven Gerrard has been offered a new deal by LFC and denied there was any kind of a rift between himself and his captain whose current deal ends this season, Gerrard has also branded rumours of a fallout as ''nonsense''.
The contract is set to run for 2 years.
