Anyone else a fan of Ricky Gervais but not like Derek?

I love the Office and Extras but think Derek is a pile of sh*te and such a slog to sit through.

I don't know, I think I'm a bit of a purist myself :D Don't see the need to mess up with the original story. It's so good as it is!
But well, those differences do add an extra dimension to the series, at some point it will probably feel like following two different stories, as you said.
I know what you mean. Been there myself, but finally understood some things just cant be taken as they are to the screen. Take LOTR for example, impossible to be really true to the original, but they pulled it off quite nicely. Fantasy is a hard genre :)

I've now watched all the shows, and the movies and specials as well of Trailer Park Boys.
It comes pretty close to comedy genius.

F**k netflix, I'm buying the box sets.

I've never been a fan of his, apart from his stand up, which he does pretty well.

I didn't really get the hype about The Office and Extras but they were OK.

      Derek is awful.
I can't find a single thing to like about it, and it appears to me that the character is just a non-clever UK version of Sheldon Cooper.

Just watched the last episode of True Detective and thought it was a great series and enjoyed the ending.

Two episodes leaft on Season 4 of Sons Of Anarchy and I've loved it. Possibly my favourite season yet.

Anyone watched House of Cards? Don't usually go for political dramas but I thought it was pretty good.

I was dubious about the idea of it, being a long-time fan of the film but I think they've done an excellent job of the series so far. Billy Bob Thornton is brilliant.

Black Sails is brilliant, made by the same people who did the recent Spartacus series.

      Oh, I see...

As a huge fan of books myself, I think it will be a shame if the story unfolds on the screens before than in the pages of the two remaining books, even if the TV Series are not 100% accurate in comparison to the books.

I certainly won't be watching it before I read it. I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to books :D they always come first for me.

I caught up with the latest episode this evening and in many ways the series has gone ahead of the books. He has revealed stuff that has yet to be shown in the books I. Just about every episode so far ie. the white walkers and the babies, revealing some of the underhand deeds of the Tyrells. I'm not a massive fan of some of the changes I have to say but never the less it's another cracking series.

I love the chemistry between Arya and the hound, she (along with Tyrion) is my favourite character in the book and Maisie Williams is superb. In fact the casting has for the most part been superb from start to finish.

I can see why they are rushing the series though, Brandon looks like he has aged 3 years since the last one and his voice has got a lot deeper.

Wish he'd hurry up and finish the next. Book though, it's been a long wait and I'm reading Lord of the Rings for the umpteenth time in the hope that it will be ready by the time I finish

One of my favourite TV shows is The Amazing Race. (American Version)

Well at the end of the last episode, they showed the preview for next week. I couldn't F***ing believe it, the remaining contestants were in full Liverpool Kit at Anfield kicking goals into the KOP end. I was buzzing and can't wait to see the episode.

These guys were living my dream. Lucky bas**rds.

It's a great series. The direction has what got my attention the most. Of course, the acting and characterization are really good. But, there has been a lot of research on the body language of the characters. There is a lot of difference between how Kevin spacey reacts to a situation and how Robin wright/Kate Mara react to a similar situation. And, they have given attention to the body language of the actor when he/she is faced with a situation. A ruthless character takes a deep breath and doesn't answer a question quickly in order to hide the truth. There are a lot of such subtle things that have been taken care of.

Ah, fair enough. The last two episodes haven't been great to be honest, this season seems slower to me but that's probably just because when i was watching the other seasons it was in the space of say 4 days :D

I think that because there are so many characters (including a couple of composite characters not in the books), the back stories need updating and filling in at some point, and that's what we've seen.
If I'm right, the action, plus boobs, will pick up again soon and then keep going up until the series finale.
