1986:
Liverpool 5-0 Birmingham
As Chernobyl goes into meltdown in Ukraine, Birmingham go into meltdown at Anfield. I am there for our last home game of the season, to see us get 2 penalties and Gary Gillespie net a hat trick. The result confirms Birmingham's relegation to Division 2, where they will stay for 16 years. Everton's point at Forest keeps them top with two away games to come for us next week at Leicester and Chelsea as we chase the double.
2011: (April 23)
Liverpool 5-0 Birmingham
25 years on, sees Birmingham back at Anfield, who have eased off the gas after winning the League Cup. It shows as the result has us still on course for a UEFA Cup spot after a turbulent season. Even Joe Cole looks a midfield maestro against the sieve like Brum defence, and helps himself. I'm not there this time, but some things haven't changed in the years since. Kenny's still in the dugout, we win 5-0 after attacking the Kop End in the first half, and Birmingham get relegated at the end of the season.
