Liked the look of him. He's young, but he has the eye for a pass and that's useful against blanket defences. Seems more ready for the 1st team than Alberto.

I thought he looked better than Alberto has for us so far. He didn't look overawed and slotted right in.... impressive

Interesting to see this view is shared by a few others on here. Just to play devils advocate (I was also impressed with Tex's short cameo), what is it that Teixeira showed that Alberto didn't? Although he's had more game time to make an impact Alberto has actually assisted a goal in his few cameos.

Not trying to be argumentative, or trying to undermine what was a composed debut by Joao Carlos, it's just an interesting discussion, as they're both the same age, play in mostly the same position and both are trying to break into the first team. The difference is one was signed a few years ago for 850k and one was signed for millions in the summer.

Just looked more confident on the ball with more of a presence.

Looked right up for it, had 2 efforts at goal aswell. Clearly wanted to impress on his debut and get the winning goal, want to see him on the bench against Arsenal.

Got high hopes for this lad, you can see the fire in his eyes when he gets on the pitch and he looks as tho' he's got what it takes.

Alberto for me has always seemed a little off the pace of the game when he has come on. Tex seemed to fit right in from the start, seemed confident and seemed to know exactly what was expected of him. Maybe it is because he has been here longer but he just looked a better fit than Alberto who imo has been a bit underwhelming when he has come on.

Obviously it was only one brief appearance so it is not a cast in stone judgement.

The amount of youth players we are using in our first team over the past couple of seasons is so good to see: Wisdom, Flanagan, Kelly, Sterling, Ibe, Teixeira, Sinclair etc. etc.

Hoping so much that McLaughlin will be the next one. Hopefully see Ward get a couple of games in pre-season too. Looked pretty decent for the under-21s.

Agree entirely mate. Makes me wonder what will happen to Alberto come the summer; he's gone from being involved here and there to not at all, and this is when we are also short on payers there so to then see Teixeira be involved it doesn't make hings look too good for Alberto.

Not a bad debut. I do think he should have found Suarez rather than attempting a shot on the first bit of that vid.

Very good player, who didn't perform for us, for a variety of reasons. Happened to many a transfer, for us and other teams. Those with ill-informed opinions will probably use words like coward or tw*t.

Shouldn't have even played him twice. Signing that shithouse was one of the major factors in getting Benitez fired.

He bottled tackles, claimed he was injured when we couldn't find anything wrong with him, and never once showed the desire, ambition or commitment to play for us in the Premiership.

Much better suited to the sedentary pace of the Serie A, were he gets loads of space and doesn't get tackled. Even there nobody wants him, because he's a shithouse. Weak body, weak mentality, weak player.

Without doubt one of the worst signings in LFC's history.

Isn't that a spoof comedy film about a heavy metal band in the '80s?

Anyway, enough Aquilani talk and more Teixeira talk!

And his bird was down his F***ing ear about moving to a girly club in Italy or Spain or F***ing Barbie Land, shithouse first class.

Great to see all the positive comments from some that have only followed his progress in this thread.

For me he played exactly the same as he does for the u21's and that is the best comment you could make.  It shows that he played his natural game, wasn't fazed, didn't panic and was confident enough to show what he can do.  Fantastic pass to Luis from our own half and was still in the box for the cross, not stood admiring his own work.  Should have probably done better when the ball fell for him but fair play, at least he was there.

One thing you get with Tex is when he receives the ball the first place he looks or dribbles is forwards.  He'll rarely lays it off to the nearest teammate, unless he's under pressure, his aim is to get an attack going.

Brave, brave move by Brendan but what faith he's showed to a young lad bursting to get a chance.
