Sir Kenny Dalglish: Appreciation Thread

This decision, plain and simply, will define FSG's spell at Liverpool.

If the right person is not appointed soon then I can see all hell breaking loose. It's got to be a world class manager to replace Kenny.

Exactly. Martinez has been in a job for a few years and made no progress and been under no pressure as his chairman assured him his job even if relegated. No way is he qualified to manage us at this point in time.

I don't want Martinez or Rafa.

I want Bielsa or AVB.

Again, I want people to read my words carefully. I am extremely disappointed by the sacking/resignation. However, I have read Dalglishs statement and, as we all know from the guy, he says everything from the heart and is not manipulated by others. To me, it sounds as if FSG went about things the right way. Kenny seems to suggest so and I trust Kenny.

I know what you're saying mate, and I dont say it lightly, but this just proves what we all know, they have have no idea at all about how we feel as supporters and no idea what Liverpool FC means..
The only way I will be appeased is to get pep guardiola in....and I cant see that happening.

As much as I like Martinez, he is no better than Kenny.

I really think some of you hold Kenny in too high a regard.

I'm not surprised by this, I'm not saddened, and I'm intrigued to see who will be our next manager.

However, if we do opt for someone like Martinez or Lambert I'll be gutted. It's time we had a world class manager again.

Talk about ripping the heart right out of the club, an honour and a pleasure to see you manage us Kenny and even more credit for the dignity he's accepted this with. Truly devastated and can only wish him and his family the best for the future.

"It has been an honour and a privilege to have had the chance to come back to Liverpool Football Club as Manager. I greatly appreciate the work that Steve, Kevin, the players and all of the staff put in during my time and feel proud that we delivered the Club's first trophy in six years winning the Carling Cup and came close to a second trophy in the FA Cup Final. Of course I am disappointed with results in the league, but I would not have swapped the Carling Cup win for anything as I know how much it meant to our fans and the Club to be back winning trophies.

"Whilst I am obviously disappointed to be leaving the football club, I can say that the matter has been handled by the owners and all concerned in an honourable, respectful and dignified way and reflects on the quality of the people involved and their continued desire to move the football club forward in the same way as when they arrived here.

"I would like to thank all of the staff at the Club for their effort and loyalty. I said when first approached about coming back as Manager that I would always be of help if I can at any time and that offer remains the same.

The players who didn't put effort in should take the flack. Gutted. Speechless. Totally deflated.

Ian Ayre is gone too according to the reliable @Gunga__Din. Bloody hell.

I doubt that very much tbh. Ian has done some amazing deals and I don't think they have any reason at all to get rid of him.

Hard to say I'm surprised, I knew it was coming two weeks ago or so, but all the best Kenny, you'll always be my King.

Kenny said that if he thought he wasn't doing what was best for the club, he'd step down himself.

So why did FSG make this move?

Soul of this football club is being ripped apart by people intent on seeking money rather than success.

I take it Clarke is also gone then...

This summer is going to make or break this club.

There is only one risk-free appointment that doesn't need any settling in. If its not him, I think I'm done here. It just doesn't make sense anymore. There are better things to do than face this sh*t year after year.

If we don't have a new, prestigious manager by the end of my exams I will be thoroughly disappointed. The end of my exams is the 15th June, by the way, if anyone wants to organise a 'Congrats' party for me...

Look, I'm not happy with FSG and I'm not defending them just because they are Yanks; however they are interested in turning LFC back into a powerhouse of football and they believe they are going about it the right way. You guys over the pond have a different mentality when it comes to supporting your sports teams as opposed to Americans and FSG will hopefully come to understand how that works. I do think they are trying their best to tread lightly here and I'm give you odds they sure didn't want to have to make this decision.

I think who they select next is going to define how they are perceived at LFC for years to come.

Me personally, I would like to see Rafa back but they may feel that once again it would create a situation where the fans love would make it hard for them to get rid of him if things didn't work out. I am hoping for Rafa but wouldn't be surprised by someone else.

Maybe Pep? Could he lure Messi here?
