AC Milan answer to Liverpool bid is clear: #Balotelli will not leave on loan. #LFC must offer money now to have Super Mario.

      He also tweeted these -

The situation with Liverpool & Balotelli has moved on in the last 12 hours or so. An initial loan inquiry has led to talks with AC Milan

      Tony Barrett@TonyBarretTimes
Now it appears a permanent deal could be on the table. Talks are ongoing but still at an early stage

So much for the Colin Pascoe comment  :D

Cant say I'm not excited by links with Mario but would try negotiating with Milan for El Shaarawy, around 15-20mil

The kid has pace, is versatile, can play upfront and has played in a bunch of games after his comeback from injury. If Danny, Sterling, Lallana & Coutinho are going to be our standard front-4 in the league, him and Markovic would be fantastic options from the bench and in cup games

Can those of you coming up with reasons not to sign Falcao or Balotelli or moaning about it remember this.....

In the last couple of seasons we have signed strikers such as Milan Jovanovic, Andy Voronin, Ryan Babel, David N'Gog, Diouf and been linked with the likes of Carlton Cole.

      Ill say no more

Fair point, but during same wide spanning era we also signed Fowler, anelka, morientes, torres, suarez, sturridge.

Not being funny but why is balotelli thread locked? Much more credible sources around than some of these other ones that are open!! (Tweeted by bbc sport and tony barrett today)

Worth watching this, if you haven't seen it already.

Illustrates quite well how technically gifted Balotelli is:

      A few more tweets...

      Mario Aquilina‏@mario_aquilina
Reported wages offer for Balotelli from #LFC is €6m (£4.8m) a year, ie. £95k a week not £160k as some are saying

After Italian media blamed Balotelli for wc2014 exit, Raiola said he regretted bringing him back to Italy. He wants him out #LFC #influence

Ok. #LFC closing in on Balotelli: Milan Channel (official club TV station!) confirms negotiations with #LFC for permanent sale. This is REAL

If somebody could confirm on that last tweet about Milan TV being in negotiations with us..??

Balotelli. If its the choice between a crocked Falcao (I'm not saying he is, but lets say that was the case..) and a solid (but no more) Bony, and a Balotelli who WILL BE focused, then we'd have to choose Balotelli.

Get it right, and we have the new superstar. Get it wrong and we've got another Anelka or much worse.

What I like most about a COMMITTED Balotelli is that he has that artistic, unpredictable side. Thats not just good to watch, it has a FUNCTIONAL use. He's also fast, very strong, and becoming a better and better goal scorer.

I was against this as a signing, but I havent seen the Falcao med reports. If Falcao was fit, I think he'd be an ESSENTIAL signing. Cavani is prob the best centre forward in the World, but he doesnt have that false 9/number 10 magic which we are massively lacking currently.

It'd be interesting to see what Balotelli might cost as a permenent deal.
Perhaps analogies can be made to the Mancs signing Cuntona. Balo is ONLY 24, and his goal record in Italy is starting to look pretty good. He could play as a 9, or 9.5. And importantly, interchange with Sturr, just as Luis did.

Finally, looking at Origi AND Balo in the same team, that would be intersting because they have pace and skill, which makes it hard to play the offside trap/push forward  vs them. And if defences pull back, then there is an aerial and physical presence.

I suppose it all depends on i)what the transfer fee would be and ii)what the alternatives are.
Could be a phenomenal signing IF he gets focussed. I'd always rather an erratic genius than a hard working boring player.

Now I'm reading that arsenal and chelsea want Mario. This is going to get intense I think.

      These foreign players love London.

Reports of 28m to Arsenal before the W Cup.
I'd like to see some structuring to any deal. But ultimately Balo has physical gifts, skill to burn, AND goals.
There's much worse ways to spend 28m in football.

30 goals in 54 games in Italy at AC.
PLUS the creative work. You could build a team around him and Sterling/Marko.
He's tailor made for the Premiership.
Lots of arguments in favour of this move.

      EDIT:-

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrDgaJKZr00
Some good clips, esp the penalty dummy.
I've seen skill. I've seen power. But I'm struggling to think of ANYONE with such a combination.
3 yrs time when he's Luis's age, I wonder what sort of player he COULD become...

his work rate is awful and he has not improved a single bit in the last 2-3 years because of his attitude to not work hard enough

this will be stop gap buy regardless, he seems to be our last option

I liked Ryan Babel! He was just weak mentally. If only he put in the effort, he would of been a terrific player.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, he was always looking at his feet. On the rare occasion he played with his head up, he was brilliant.

I'd take Mario, for no rational reason, I think he'd be a success.

That IS his weakness. And if the work rate in training suffered too, then you have a problem like his latter days at Man C.
Balo needs to feel valued. Which is what he could get at Liverpool, not Man C or Chelsea.

Strikers dont nec have to run around like Luis. But they must make the runs, close down a bit and try and work the openings. As a 9.5 he'd also have to work to some extent but certainly not like a Dirk Kuyt all graft and no skill type.

Also, with his powerful frame, skill and pace, he wont be expected to run round like a young Kevin Keegan. Nor would be need to.

I might try Balo, Sturr, Sterling/Marko.
With a midfield 3 behind, Caan, Henderson, Gerrard.
That would mean a hardworking team, with all the steel, flair and goals needed.

I think Balo is starting to look the best option, altho we dont know allthe facts.
