      Happy for him.

Great to see him playing regularly and being the amazing striker that he is. It also helps to keep eurored out of this thread so win-win!

Absolute superstar. Love him to bits. Wish his name was sung more and am sure he does too.

Same here, I wish the Kop would sort a chant for the lad. Kolo Toure had his name bellowed out around the ground a few times last night now I love Kolo BUT i'm pretty certain Studge is more deserving. Great to see him celebrate which such uninhibited crazy joy last night! Just give the lad a song for fook's sake!

Surely the "Super Dan" chant we used to sing for Danny Murphy would work just fine!?

Watched the game in full once I got home. Sure seems like it matters to Studge. The way he celebrated that second goal, he honestly looked close to tears. So under appreciated by all of us (me included). No more would I ever entertain selling him, injuries or otherwise. Bad judgement on my part to even consider it viable. Hope he's here for a long time. And yes, please someone sort out a song for him already.

I too have under appreciated him and thought the best thing for the club was to move him on. When he plays he is on a different level.

But I ask you this, if he is not a starter next season for whatever reason be it that Klopp wants someone who works harder or Klopp feels he cant rely on him for the season to be fit, do you think his behaviour would have a negative effect on the squad when he is on the bench?

And I really don't believe he is anywhere near as sharp as he can be yet he is still scoring and assisting. His touch is not brilliant and the majority of his shooting is off.

Can't wait until he is on form.

Yeah, think it'll be next season before we see him at his very best. Fingers crossed he managers to stay fit throughout the Euros and then hopefully he can have a good pre-season. IIRC, he hasn't had one with us yet, has he?

Yep, you can see he gets pissed at himself when he skies a shot or misses a pass. He's still not at top form. Quite scary actually because he'd walk into any Premier League team (and most European ones) right now.

Daniel Sturridge settled and ready for ‘something special’ at Liverpool

Daniel Sturridge has said there are no problems between himself and Jürgen Klopp and that he is content at Liverpool with the club on the brink of “something special”.

Sturridge, however, is adamant he has no issues with Klopp or a desire to leave Liverpool in the summer. The England international admits being upset when left out of the team but insists that reaction is natural, as his manager has also stated

“Of course I am happy here,”he said.“I’m happy. I have never expressed not being happy here. I think it is everyone playing devil’s advocate. They see that I have been left out sometimes and think: ‘Maybe that means he is unhappy,’ but the manager has got a job to do. He has got to pick the team that he feels is best on the day. And I have got a job to do, which is to perform when I am playing.

“There has never been any friction between us, not at all. There is never any on my part and there is never any on the manager’s part either, I don’t think. It is his job to pick the team. I can never be upset. This is a team game and if he chooses to pick someone else, I have to take it on the chin. You know what? I can say it: I can be upset if I am not playing. But that is natural for any player to be upset. You just have to take it on the chin. And when you do come on, you have to be in the right frame of mind.”

Sturridge’s 13th goal in 23 appearances this season gave Liverpool the aggregate lead against Villarreal and, as his celebrations testified, he considered the finish from Roberto Firmino’s pass the most important strike of his Anfield career.

“I think it was because it was such a big game for us,” he explained.“With the first chance I had I was like: ‘How did that not go in?’ So I felt as if I had to make up for the first chance and I am grateful to God that I was able to do that. It’s the biggest goal I’ve scored for Liverpool but hopefully there will be a lot more bigger games and a lot more bigger goals to come in the future for the club.”

Klopp said on Friday that Sturridge would be in peak condition for the European Championship if selected by England this summer, having been given a specialised training programme before his return from injury in February.

The striker concurred: “There is no doubt about it. It’s a few months since I have been back and I haven’t had a day off. I’m not fronting this. I actually haven’t had a day off. When the other boys have had days off, I have been in. It has just been extra stuff, whether I have been training or doing recovery work, I have been doing it. I am not trying to create a sob story. At the end of the day, we get paid to do this and this is my dream. I can’t complain.”

Sturridge believes Liverpool will use the painful experience of February’s League Cup final loss to Manchester City, plus other near misses over the past few seasons, to their advantage when they meet Sevilla, the Europa League holders.

“We get the impression as players that it is the start of something special but we will take each game as it comes,” he said. “We didn’t win the last final we played in, so we have to learn from that. I think Villarreal showed we have learned. We took things from the League Cup in to Villarreal. We couldn’t have any regrets. We had to put everything in to it to try and get the results.”

He added: “It took me a while to get over not winning the Premier League here. That is the closest I have been since leaving Chelsea to winning something big. The League Cup was so difficult to take. I was in tears after the game, not just because we lost but because it was a moment for us. We wanted to move to the next level in that game but we were unfortunate. But we have learned from it and we have got another final. Sevilla have won it twice before. It’s not new for them but we have won it before as a club and we want to give the fans something to sing about.”

That puts it to bed then well played Studge.

Conversely looks like Klopp is the only manager that knows how to get the best out of him on a physical level too.

Good optimistic read that. And shows Sturridge is a level headed team player for those who thought otherwise.

It shows that judging a book by its cover (the body language experts), shouldn't perpetuate myths about the character of a person.

I agree with Scottbot, give the bloke a F***ing song!

I hope a few posters are taking a long hard look at themselves and the bollocks they have been spouting about Daniel.
In my opinion and I have said this for a long time, he is our best player and would get into pretty much any team in the world. Honestly.
You can happily look for and state teams that you think he wouldn't but a fit and firing sturridge is an absolute joy to have on your team and a nightmare if you are the opposition.

In full flow there is not another striker in the league to touch him , coming back from such a lay off was always going to have its effect on performance,  at last it looks as if the hard work and patience is starting to come through , honestly wish the euros were not this summer because it's likely that clown woy will get his mits on him .

Just hope he comes through unscathed  then back here for a proper pre season under the BOSS. all those talking about Studge giving various reasons why he wouldn't couldn't or didn't play  and saying we should get rid got it badly wrong ,we all do with certain players on times , but he's back getting sharper all the time and if JĂźrgen keeps him fit we have a hell of a striker on our hands .

      He scores all the time.

The simple fact is: Liverpool are 100% more dangerous when he is in the side.

Any suggestion of this man leaving would be ludicrous. Any team in the world, including Barcelona would be happy to have him.

He expressed that he is happy to be here. He is a wonderful player when fit. To be top striker, you need to belief in yourself and he does.

Every player who believes that he has what it takes to be the starting XI would be angry sitting on the bench. I'm always against those players who take the pay for doing nothing to improve or prove that they deserves to be in the playing team.

He's by far our best player, and without doubt our only World Class player right now. I'm sorry but Coutinho is just not consistent enough to be considered the best or world class. Of all our squad, Sturridge is the only one who could walk into any of the top teams in the world and be guaranteed first team football. With the second highest strike rate in the league this season (above Vardy or Kane) if we can keep him fit all next season, and do some canny business in the market, we can definitely put a title challenge in.

And this is the dilemma Klopp has to deal with every game i think.

He can't play him every game or he will get injured again, especially when there are a couple in a row, i like how Klopp is dealing with Danny. I think maybe if Klopp hadn't put Sturridge on the bench for a game or two he wouldn't look as good as he does now and even now he doesn't look at his sharpest.

What i am looking forward to is if he can form a partnership with Origi, whether they are traditionally side by side up front or not, the more of them two on the pitch the better.
