Well he wont forget that debut for a while. Had a solid game, made some mistakes but he done well, got fortunate on his goal with their keeper doing whatever he was doing but still he controlled his shot well. Tried leading the midfield too, positive signs from the lad.

By the time he's 20, I expect him to be a first team player in that holding midfield role. Keeps things simple, yet effective. Our Busquets!

Thought Jordan looked very good yesterday. Most impressive thing for me was how he didn't looked phased by making his debut at Anfield. Looks to have a future here.

Damn that's a blow for the lad if it's ligament damage.

Liverpool FC youngster Jordan Rossiter faces lengthy spell on sidelines with possible ligament damage

Fears that Jordan Rossiter had suffered a broken ankle have been eased – but the Liverpool youngster is still facing a significant spell on the sidelines.

The talented 17-year-old Academy midfielder limped out of the Reds’ FA Youth Cup defeat to Birmingham City on Friday night.

A scan has revealed there is no fracture but Rossiter’s left ankle remains heavily swollen and he’s on crutches.

Liverpool under-18s coach Neil Critchley said: “Jordan was in a lot of pain in the dressing room after the game and when Jordan’s in pain you know it’s serious so we feared the worst.

“He’s had a scan and it looks like he hasn’t broken anything which is good news.

“It’s either ligament damage or a severe sprain but he’s still facing a fair few weeks out.

“We still can’t be too sure because of the swelling. We’ll wait for that to go down and then scan it again just in case.”

Rossiter is one of the club’s most highly-rated Academy players.

He scored on his senior debut for Liverpool when Brendan Rodgers handed him a start in the League Cup tie with Middlesbrough back in September.

absolutely awful, we'd all be hoping for maximum recovery there, too young to get serious knee ligament injuries!

Would be absolutely gutted if it were ligament damage, but hoping it's just a bad sprain.

      Inglethorpe update on Rossiter injury
      17th Feb 2015 - Latest News

Academy director Alex Inglethorpe has backed Jordan Rossiter to return stronger than ever as the midfielder prepares to endure up to two months out of action.

The 17-year-old Scouser suffered an unfortunate ankle injury towards the end of Liverpool's FA Youth Cup defeat by Birmingham City last month and required surgery.

Rossiter, who made his first-team debut for the Reds and marked the occasion with a goal at Anfield earlier this season, must now watch on from the sidelines.

Though confirmation of a spell out arrived as a blow, Inglethorpe knows the tenacious young talent will approach his rehabilitation period with the right mentality.

"Knowing his character as we all do at the Academy it's something he will overcome in his typical and determined, single-minded way," he told Liverpoolfc.com of Rossiter.

"It's such a shame for Jordan because he was doing so well and it was quite an innocuous thing the way the injury happened. He went up for a header and landed very badly on his ankle and he has had to have surgery on that now.

"His character is outstanding and he has got one of the best mentalities I have ever worked with. I know it's difficult for him at the moment but he will come back stronger than ever.

"No doubt Jordan will try to make a quicker return than we expect and he'll probably be planning a comeback in the next two weeks knowing him, but he's determined and he's one of those lovely players you have to make sure you keep the reins on.

"He is in good hands with our physios Andy Renshaw and Richie Partridge, who are outstanding at what they do, and he's in great care."
