The point I am making is that a title which can only be won once every 4 years, is used as the ultimate defining factor for a players career. Many believe Maradonna is the best ever and thats due to his World Cups. But looking at his overall career, he has individual records but only 3 Domestic League titles, no European Championships. He is considered a legend at Boca Juniors and he only won 1 League title w/ them. He won 2 Serie A Titles but left in disgrace because of his scandals w/ cocaine.  I think the WC can be used to complement a career and cap off a career but used as a defining factor for greatness is wrong.

Yeah I get a bit irritated at the 'Maradona is the greatest' claims. In my view Zidane is the greatest player of all time. But because Maradona is a flawed privately it means we can pull out the 'flawed genius' and 'tragic hero' cliches which I get the feeling somehow catapults him above the likes of Pele and Zidane.

See thats just it ,i dont use cliches in my assessment of him flawed or tragic , he had faults like a lot of others ,and while i admired Zidane ,they were both a joy to watch ,but there are not too many players who perform on the biggest stage in an average team ,Diego did it and there is no doubt about that.

The constant debate over who is/was the greatest player IS actually one of the little things in football that annoy me, haha.
It's got to be one of the most common debates in football but can only ever be a matter of opinion because comparing stats of players who played for different teams, in different leagues, in different eras is pointless.
I'd much rather say, "Wow, Maradonna, Pele, Zidane etc... were a joy to watch" then try to find time to watch the likes of Messi and that tart at Real Madrid while we have the chance.

Prefer that to be honest than the sh*te the commentators come out with over here. However, that said, must be annoying as hell if your team are the ones that let in the goal

What really annoys me is the kicking the ball out when someones injured. Good example last week when Gibbs walked off the pitch behind our goal holding his leg then decided to walk back on the pitch and sit down in our box, then Sagna mouthing off at coutinho cause we carried on. Most of the time its a complete farce.

There is a channel here in Brazil, FoxSports, that EVERYTIME a goal is scored they play a little ANNOYING song that really kills the moment.

The receiving player putting their thumb up in appreciation of the 'idea' behind the pass played to them by their team mate that flew about 20 yards over their head.

The f***ing obnoxious jingle played every time the Brazil national team scores a goal drives me up a wall.

No wonder Costa chose to play for Spain.

Tell me about it. Owen was fawning over our lot from start to finish in that game, but it sounded pathetic and forced.

And his voice... dull, drab and depressing.

Linesmen have long been our biggest enemy. That Suarez one vs Everton will never die from my memory.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this but I hate this current trend of players covering their mouths when talking to eaxh other so the cameras don't pick up what they are saying.

Do they think we are that interested in what they are saying and lip readers are watching everything they say?

Sad thing is mate I bet they are

I can't blame them, whatever was being said would be made into something it wasn't by the press

How much they kick off with say half time shirt swapping.. Who cares, they will more than likely change their shirt anyway but somehow it's a big deal to give it someone

People like those in the press would certainly make something of it
