      Music Albums 2013
      Apr 12, 2013 11:48:06 pm
Right music heads! Thought that there could be a thread where we could put up our favourite albums of the year of even ones we are looking forward to. All genres and all that, even just for recommendations.

      3 I am looking very much forward to are;

Rudimental - Home (some time in April I think)
Debut album. Will have their massive Feel The Love. Loving this one now tho.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M97vR2V4vTs

Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City ( May)

In my eyes, these guys can do no wrong. This is defo gonna be a favourite of mine for the summer anyways.

Vampire Weekend - Diane Young (Official Stream)

      Kid Cudi - Indicud.

Great rapper. I actually already have this album , it got leaked during the week. Havn't had the time to listen to it yet, but if it's anything like MOTM, it'll be great.

Kid Cudi - King Wizard (Explicit Version)

My favourite album of the year so far is Amok by Atoms For Peace. Great project by Thom Yorke and Flea. I listen to other music but I just keep coming back to this one.

      Atoms For Peace - Ingenue

      Sigur Ros - Kveikur

Really looking forward to this one especially after hearing the first single.

      Sigur Rós - Brennisteinn

      Awesome.

      The Rudimental album is good.

Rudimental - Waiting All Night feat. Ella Eyre (Official Video) - OUT NOW

One album I was pleasantly surprised at being good is the Imagine Dragons one, you might know of their tracks from the soundtrack to FIFA!

      Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

Must get the album now sometime.

Got it the other night aswell. I only briefly listened to some tracks. I didn't think the best of it now tbh.  Must listen to it properly this evening.

I got Vampire Weekend's new one last night aswell.

It's okay, but I'll give it a few listens. Get Lucky really stands out but I have listened to that a lot so I'll give the rest of the album that same chance

Daft Punk's new album is good. Their style isn't exactly my favorite type of music, but I appreciate them regardless of that. Very good new album this year.

Only listened once now and I wasn't the biggest fan. I'm more of  a fan of the more 'traditional' 90's Daft Punk sound tho. Some of the tracks are very easy to listen to.

What did you think of them? forgot to put them onto my Google Music from iTunes so can't listen to them at work.

Also, Kanye West is releasing Yeezus on June 18th. Everything he does is brilliant IMO. Daft Punk & Skrillex are contributors to this album, among others.

Not the best version, but here are 2 of the newest tracks:

Got the new Kanye album 'Yeezus' and to say it's disappointing is an understatement. Its pretty bad.

Just Got the new J Cole album 'Born Sinner' and it sound s a lot better than Kanye's and I'm only a couple of songs in. Jay Z's new one out end of the month whilst I'm talking Hip Hop. Be interesting to see what he's got left in the locker.

I've got Kodaline - 'In a Perfect World', Bastille - 'Bad Blood', Passenger - 'All the Little Lights' and Ministry of Sound - 'Marbella Sessions 2013' to get through as well.

I've listened to it once or twice and can see where you're coming from, in the way that it's definitely different anyways. I like a few of the tracks on it.

Born Sinner > Yeezus for me too tbh, Mac Miller's new one is pretty decent aswell though.

I'm not afraid to admit that it told me I was officially gay once because it had got to a certain amount of spins before I'd managed to work out was going on and switch it off.

Those spins add up very quickly by the way.

I have also been with my Girlfriend Linzi for 14 years and I have a 3 and a half year old son. For the record that is.

I reckon BBB is still playing his though.

Really pleasantly surprised by the new Bring Me The Horizon album. I've seen them live before now and heard their recorded stuff and liked very little of it. They had a habit of putting together a decent tune then stopping halfway through for Oliver Sykes to let out a death metal growl that seems to emanate from the depths of his bowl. All of that is gone now and this album represent a complete change of direction. Best album I've heard from a British band in quite some time!

Even if you've hated them in the past, give this a go!

      Got a good few lately.

      Disclosure - Settle is fantastic.

Have just got HAIM, Arctic Monekys, Drake, Chvrches (the EP was good!) & Lorde this week so may need a bit of time to get through them. Have got a few more like Jake Bugg, Wilkinson, Sub Focus, Chase & Status among others. Will report back soon!

Reckon Imagine Dragons' album is gonna do well with awards this year, really good album, and think that as a band they look promising.

Queens of the Stone Age as well with Like Clockwork

Check post number 3 ;) Think it was alright, nothing special but not awful. Had a few good tracks on it and the rest were easy to listen to. Haven't listened to it in a while tbh!

I have it alright but haven't given it a proper view listens yet. I do very much much enjoy the 'singles' released from it so far tho.

Also absolutely love this cover they done as well.

Indie Rock though is the way rocks going these last couple of years, even Arctic Monkey's sound has changed in that direction. Lot more of those sort of melodic rock songs becoming prevalent
AM is a ripping album too. First Arctic Monkey's album I've really gotten into

For me I'd say the opposite and Arctic Monkeys have gradually changed to a heavier sound that is less 'Indie Rock'.

For what it's worth my album of the year is this one.

      Brilliant from start to finish.

It's been very big for a number of years now Fletch and there are some really good bands to have come out of that 'scene' (more so even in the USA). I just don't believe that Imagine Dragons album is a good example of that but each to their own... that diversity is what makes music so wonderful in my opinion.
