Was a very astute pick by the boss on a free. Always is a good player if you play to his strengths (defend deeper, don't over complicate what you expect him to do too much with the ball).

Never lost faith in Kolo, thought he was very underappreciated last season, especially considering how crucial he was to our good start. Yes, his form declined considerably during the season, but that was mostly while playing on the left side of defense with Skrtel, which simply wasn't working for neither of them. And while the defense has improved slightly with precisely that composition this season (Skrtel on the right, Touré on the left), I think it's more of a sign of how bad things were with Skrtel-Lovren than a vindication of our current CB partnership. I wish Sakho would be back soon so we could try Touré-Sakho for a few games.

Very good games made by Kolo, he deserves to start for us, even though i was doubtful about him being a key player.

Exactly the combo I was calling for last season mate.

Easily our best centre back at the minute and looked great again. Thought he handled everything that came at him today with ease. It was noticeable that any threat they had at all came down Skrtel/Johnson's side as Kolo simply shut them out completely.

Agree with both here. Kolo looked pretty good again Saturday. He's in form at the moment so Brendan's gotta stick with him.

First choice as far as I am concerned at the moment. He isn't graceful, far from it, bit like a bull in a china shop at times but he gets the job done.

Toure selected for Africa Cup of Nations

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has been named in the Ivory Coast squad for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Equatorial Guinea next month.

The 33-year-old is part of a 23-man group selected by coach Herve Renard for the continental competition, which will take place from January 17 to February 8.

Toure and his compatriots have been drawn alongside Cameroon, Guinea and Mali in Group D, with the top two in each section progressing to the knockout stages.

Ivory Coast kick off their campaign against Guinea on January 20, tackle Mali four days later and complete the group by facing Cameroon on January 28.

Toure has made 12 appearances in total for the Reds this season and was named the club's Standard Chartered Player of the Month in November.
