So Kolo is not being offered one more year contract.

We definitely need to sign another CB now.

As for Kolo, I truly think it's a mistake to not bring him back.

Looks like Kolo will not be offered an extension to his contract.

Shame really he was fantastic in his last few games, total commitment from him.  I think he could be of value for the younger defenders coming through as his attitude is perfect, no moaning when not playing, but when he played he was always ready.

I'm really pleased for Kolo that he had a strong finish to his career here and probably his best spell during his three seasons but time was against him and I often wondered last season if he was playing on pure adrenaline thinking that this could be his last time playing this type of level and he just went for it no matter how much his body hurt

From our point of view we have no European footy next season and have Lovren, Matip, Mama and young Gomez who I believe would all be in front of him.. And I want to see young Joe get time at CB, keeping Kolo perhaps didn't make sense with his wage and likely lack of action

I think we're losing a character as much as a footballer.

That kind of experience, and rallying of the troops is just as important as the footballer where changing rooms are concerned.

Well, at least we have Henderson to rally the troops now, YAY! 

Gutted he hasn't been given a extension on his contract, made a lot of valuable contributions towards the end of the season with us losing Sakho, Jürgen knows what he's doing though and I trust him 100%.

Agree on that. Regardless of whether he plays a game he should have a contract just to be part of the squad. Superb character on and off the pitch.

On a serious point, how can we decide the player who arguably put in a MOTM performance in the UEFA final just gone is not needed by the club? Too old? Past it? No chance.

I just get the impression that the club treats him not the way he deserves it! He always did a solid job here, he accepted his role and always performed well when needed.

Wasn't sure about him when we first signed him but now feel gutted he has been released.

He certainly changed my opinion of him.

Gonna miss his Koloness.

I think if we would have been in Europe next season he may have stayed.

And in any case, we don't know whether LFC did or didn't offer him some sort of contract.  Probably still good for up to a good 20 games a season in one of Europe's top divisions.

Read somewhere that we didn't offer him a coaching job because he made it clear that he wanted to continue playing as long as possible. Can't blame him for that and I doubt he would have got many games for us this season if he had stayed.
