The Qataris are looking at Villa from what I've been told as they soon will fly from Birmingham Airport.

Buy the club or major sponsorship.

That guys second tweet was stating that it's only a sponsorship deal. I hope that rules out renaming then.

Thought renaming a stadium falls under the sponsorship category? It could still happen. Would be a joke of a name to call a stadium though.

Agree with that 100% Dave. Regardless of what they call it it will always be Anfield.

Sponsor ship o.k. Naming rights..... NEVER !  You might think it will always remain 'Anfield'  regardless of what the paymasters want.
So why do we call the Arse ground 'The Emirates Stadium' and Citeh, 'The Etihad Stadium'  O.K. they may have moved up the road but I bet all the fans wanted to retain thier identity.  Now it's gone, they won't get it back. Even if we should get a new stadium over in the park, it should always remain 'ANFIELD'

Gerns mate we call it 'The Emirates' cos that's its name ie it hasn't changed it's name
same goes for The Etihad. Neither Arsenal or Man City have changed the name of their
grounds they have moved to different stadiums, then took sponsorship to help pay for
      their shiny new stadiums..
In Newcastle the ground has changed it's name it's now called Sports Direct apparently!!!
Well that was Ashleys plan as he owns both but the only thing he achieved was putting more
cash into NUFC for a naming right that lasted 2 weeks before he had to take them down, as
fans were ripping them down & refusing to call their ground anything other than St James..

City didn't pay for that new stadium, they lease it from the council.
Its renaming was just another way around FFP, which is fast becoming a joke.

Be interesting to read the next set of accounts because it will be very difficult to hide the massive drop in wages, increased sponsorship to only show a £20m investment in the squad as "putting every penny back into the club". Considering their actual investment so far amounts to getting the club for a steal and saddling it with directors loan debts I wouldn't be surprised to see the debt (repayment to them) fall as an opportunity to reduce their investment therefore improve their percentages when it comes to sale.

Of course that's guess work but £20m does not sound at all right about the level of 'profit' we would have made on the back of this squad, in fact it sounds ludicrously small.
Maybe they are putting extra money we make to one side to invest in the stadium project as we dont have Champions league revenue we cant have it all our way, it is a business as well as our club so they need to make 150Mil to go towards ground development t hen we will jsut have to be smart in the transfer market
