One of his best performances since he signed for us.  Still plenty to work on in the foot department but some great stops tonight and kept us in that first half. Well in.

So are we still calling Mignolet the worst goalkeeper in Liverpool history?  :f_whistle:

Credit where credit is due. The way his season was going he had two options; 1, Continue to let it get to him and result in being shipped out at the end of the season or 2, Sort his head out and start to make a name for himself.

for about a year he definitely was.

But he's totally reinvented himself and credit to him.

still needs a lot of work on his distribution but on the bread and butter stuff he has made huge strides.

uh yes.  You don't remember the Negredo goal, City away last season in December of 2013?

capped off with that performance at Leicester away in December (2014) of this season, where he passed the ball to Cambiasso in the first half, then he let a backpass roll out for a corner in the second?

that's a 12 month period.  pretty much the entire twelve months he was shaky.  and that's being kind.

Picking out two poor performances at each end of a year period doesn't confirm he has been bad for a full year mate.

oh no I'm not saying those were the only bad performances.  I was just saying those were the bookends.  He had many awful performances in between.  That Negredo goal away last season, the Eto'o goal at Chelsea, Crystal Palace away this season (remember when he kicked the FREE KICK into touch and they scored right from there?), Ludogorets away (when he just dropped the ball and they scored??), Burnley away, Villa at Anfield, etc etc.... those are just off the top of my head.

I was just using the City away match and the Leicester away match as starting and stopping points for that 12 month period.  there were unfortunately many, many games where he was really quite poor.

Certainly was, keeps putting in performance out of performance and it's almost looking consistent now. The memories of the old Migs are fading fast with these types of things.

      Well in lad, outstanding.

He deserves the applause Luke, got his head together and really knuckled down, we all know he needed to, so fair do's to him, not easy being a keeper, your forever in the limelight if you get it wrong !!

Cas has a point Fed and in a round about way is what I was getting at when I said you were on a roll tonight.

I'm not sure you get any enjoyment at all out of watching football as even when we win, which has been quite regularly recently in case you missed it, you seem to constantly want to run our own players down.

Most of us like to celebrate when we do well and talk up our own players.

      <bite> He's still down there.

He's had some good performances recently - tonight was arguably the best I've seen him but I'd imagine even his most ardent fan would appreciate he has some significant problems with aspects of his game. Tonight the clean sheet was rightly down to him.

      Let's hope this improvement continues.

Distribution is still horrendous but he is doing what we all knew he could the whole time, making superb saves.

My MOTM for that first half. Excellent.
