Cech should be our number one target in January.

If not him then we should go after Begovic.  Actually he's the one we should've gone after the summer we went for Mignolet.

But now it looks like Madrid are sniffing around Begovic so it might be too late.

Maybe they might give us Kaylor Navas if they want Begovic.

It's often said that a decent keeper is worth fifteen points a season, but Mignolet's costing us points rather than winning them.
-15 points, in the other direction?

the thing is, getting Begovic in that summer would have been a perfect move literally for all parties concerned.  We needed a top class keeper as Pepe was indeed in decline; Begovic would have had a chance to be the starting keeper at one of the biggest clubs in the world; and Stoke had just signed that Butland lad who was supposed to be the heir apparent to Joe Hart.  So they gladly would've let Begovic go in order for Butland to take his place.

      but.

We decided to go for one Mr. Simon Mignolet.

Yup in hindsight probably the wrong choice over a couple of million quid. Always seems to be our Achilles heel paying that little extra for the extra quality!

Must admit I hadn't seen much of Mignolet at that time but saw a fair bit of Bergovic and on that alone I would have gone for him as he looked a top quality keeper IMO.

In saying that, in the last 3 games or so I think Mignolet's form has actually picked up. He saved us with his infamous shot stopping abilities down at QPR and he looks to have made the decision to punch the ball clear. His problems have been compounded by a defense who can't even do the basics right - like getting bullied by players like Zamora, not being able to defend lobbed balls into the box etc. But on an individual note, I think his game in goal is improving somewhat.

Still think there is a top keeper in Mignolet. But he needs coaching and confidence. As do our entire defence.

He will be good when he leaves us. Like Brad Friedel, David James, etc.

You could coach the fck out of anyone but guts and bravery is something you cant coach, honestly can forgive the odd blunder as all keepers make them ,but that one act on wednesday fckin sickened me, jog on fella you aint got the heart for this club.

funny how it was called "trolling" when I said over the summer that Mignolet wasn't good enough.

Now that it's abundantly clear it's apparently okay to say it.

Migs has good reflexes and a good shot stopper, but he'll never be as good as Pepe was. He just doesn't seem to know how to command the 18 yard box, or the defenders in front of him.

I'd love to see a montage of every corner or cross from the wings we've faced and how many Mignolet has come out and caught.  Say what you like about Reina - he used to catch a football.

Not a montage mate but this picture was posted on FB last night and I had to cringe.

You can tell by Lovrens eyes where the ball is coming in from .....what's Migs doing? He's got his F***ing eyes closed. It's like what I feel like doing everytime the ball goes in our final third.

Practising giving away a penalty with his hands up!

Trolling isn't always just about what you say, it's also how it's said.

Still think the poor communication between our back five is a bigger issue than ability.  The few times I've managed to see them in-person it's glaringly obvious.
