League Cup 2013-14 (League Cup)

Well, this back door entry into Europe starts this Monday, It may well be a poor man's cup, and it may be a back door entry into the Europa League,but I'll take that route every day of the week.


The competition starts this Monday with Preston v Blackpool.

I think we enter the competition in the 2nd round, so we have a slightly earlier interest in this Cup.

Just in case (and I genuinely do hope this is the case) does Luis Suarez's match ban account for domestic cups as well? If so it could mean he misses 4 premier league matches instead?

That has always been the case with his ban. He has missed 4 so far; the League Cup tie will count as the 5th; and the remaining five will be in the Premier League. Assuming we advance to the next round he'd be in the team for the 3rd round I'd imagine as it's the first game he'd be eligible for when cleared to return.

Sounds like it was a cracking game down at Leicester tonight with them beating Fulham 4-3

Birmingham and Stoke played out a 3-3 draw, extra time being played.


Edit......Went to penalties after it finished 4-4, Stoke smashed Brum 4-2 after Brum missed the first 2.

Birmingham so unlucky, went 1-0 down, levelled it, went down to 10 and then came back from 3-1 down in normal time.

Went 4-3 down in extra time and levelled it again (3rd time, 2nd with 10 men) and lost on pens, cruel, cruel game at times.

Unlucky Birmingham, very unlucky.

Hull go 2-1 up away to Spuds in extra time.

Tonights been a great night for us. Spurs and City both going into extra time and the draw is very tough for all of them. All have some seriously tough away games, where hopefully they all go to extra time again, apart from Spurs who have a London derby at home. One game a week could be a huge benefit to us this season, it really could.

Really hope Sunderland win this! They will then be given a place in the Europa League which means there will be one less place based on league position and that would be brilliant if it then resulted in the Mancs missing out on Europe altogether!
