Deserves to be given a chance - here! Our equal 3rd most expensive CB ever to have been signed by LFC and he hasn't even kicked a ball in anger for us.

At least Coates, Alberto and Aspas were given the opportunity.

Just hope he makes more of his opportunity when (if) he gets one. That said he seems to have a bit of quality about him, something them 3 you listed haven't.

To be fair Rodgers himself has said the fee for Ilori isn't anything near what the newspapers reported it as.

""Signing Ilori was about looking after the future of the club. Centre-halves are very hard to get," said Rodgers.

"I know as well as anyone, especially working with young players, that they need time in that area. He was one that became available. He wasn't overly-priced.

"I see the price that is quoted and it is nowhere near the mark to be honest."

He just needs to sort out his injury problems and play on a consistent basis and then he should be knocking on the manager's door for a spot in the first team next season....

... and once he is up to the pace of the Premier League he could partner Mamadou Sakho for years to come in a back four.

That, of course, would require Mama to "sort out his injury problems" too mate.  ;)

Lack of playing time, through injury, was one of the accusations often levelled at Agger [when people wanted to list his 'cons']: we don't seem to be having much luck, with our centre-halves, in that respect.

i think having him back next season could be a suprise weapon as we could play him as a RCB. He seems intellegent as a player, he's big and strong and rapid so could slot in there and be competition for Lovern if we are to See Can further forward next season.

what makes you think BR's Liverpool working with a back 4 will get us any closer then we got with a back 3? his LFC with a back 4 has been terrible. his LFC with a back 3 came runner up. how do you know anything about the long run mate? you think if we go back to a back 4 the full backs will magically become brilliant? it's horrible watching the full backs in a back 4 in BR's system. and we're not going to sign two world class full backs in the off-season. so what do you suggest?

this lad could be a class RWB as hes rapid and from what i've seen (which to be honest is not massive amounts) he is technically good with the ball. we could also play him in the RCB role which is were i think he will play next season giving Lovern competition for that place.

      Good shout.

Despite being right-footed, he was a left-back for Sporting Lisbon's youth teams before they put him in the middle when he moved up to the first team.  He could turn out to be a very good wing-back on either flank due to his pace, ability to defend and composure. He can play football too can Ilori.

Watching Ilori vs Lens. Not a very demanding match, but Ilori looks assured so far.

Wasn't a demanding match, but he was very neat and tidy, really like what I'm seeing, but I'm also curious to see how Can would do as a CB.

If we do shift Can into CM, then Ilori should definitely play in the cup games.

he looks like something we need as he seems composed on the ball from what i've seen has pace so could line up as a possible RB if we want to add more positions to his game so that he's versitile.
I really hope we dont buy anymore CB in the summer and start to give the likes of Ilori a chance

He is certainly a player that I desperately want to see back at lfc and given a chance next season.
Surely we can't continue signing young players, loaning out and selling without them being given an opportunity at the club.
The amount of money wasted each year on 'potential' is ridiculous.

      Nope.
We've always bought promising youngsters to add to existing academy players close to breaking through.

      All clubs do it.

Chelsea do it purely as a way of getting round FFP.

Needs game time to prove himself. Loaning him to a league that in no way resembles the prem league is pointless as is keeping the likes of Toure who will get bits of game time that Illori could be getting
