We Never Walked Alone - A 96 mile walk from Hillsborough to Anfield taking place over the Easter Weekend, 19 & 20th April 2014.
The "We Never Walked Alone" walk is a tribute of thanks from the families of the 96 people who died and those who survived, to all those who have given support to their quest for truth and justice.
Walkers include family members from the three campaign groups, survivors and football supporters.
ā¢ The walk visits the football grounds of Huddersfield, Oldham, Manchester City, Bury, Bolton, Wigan and Everton en route as a symbol of thanks to the wider public football community.
ā¢ 96 roses will be laid at the Anfield memorial by the walkers when they arrive there some time on 20 April.
ā¢ A special banner has been designed to represent all the groups involved in the 25 year campaign.
ā¢ It is NOT a fund raising event.
ā¢ When the walkers reach Everton FC, there is a plan form a chain of āhands across the parkā of supporters from Goodison Park to Anfield to symbolise the 25 years of unity in the fight for justice for the 96. (A reneactment of the 1989 āScarves across the parkā tribute.)
ā¢ We want as many supporters as possible to be there to make it happen ā further symbolising how important supporters are in the continued fight for justice.
ā¢ Twitter account @25yearsWNWA will be posting news and updates of the event now and throughout the walk. Hashtags #WNWA and or #WeNeverWalkedAlone being used to get the message of thanks as far across the world as possible.
Please spread awareness of this, as much as you can. Everyone who has been affected by the Hillsborough disaster, long for closure and justice. But it is just as important to give thanks to everyone who have supported and given strength to the people who have needed it the most. This is a symbol of thanks from the hearts of people who have never walked alone. Please give them the support and acknowledgement they deserve on this historic, difficult and emotional time of year.
