      Omens
      Mar 30, 2014 11:54:38 am
I remember all the ones from 2005 with the Champions League.

Just found this one. On this day in 1964 (30th March) we beat Tottenham 3-1 at home, which took us top of the table, until the very end, giving Bill Shankly his first league trophy for Liverpool.

      Can anybody find any others?

To win that title we had to put 5 past Arsenal at Anfield, a feat we've done this season.

Also on this day, 1982, we beat Birmingham 3-1 at home before going on to win the league.

Sep 10th 1964 - Rod Steward records his 1st single "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" and in 2014 DJ Dave Lee Travis is to be charged with something similar.  :bert: :ernie:

September mate? That's very tenuous; what about this?...

On this day [30 March] 1930 Rolf Harris was born - he did Two Little Boys.

Or on this day MC Hammer was born [1962] and we are going to hammer Spurs today... Can't Touch This.

Never felt this way since our CL triumph in 2005, did not feel the same way in 2009 because it wasn't in our hands.

This time it is, win them all and we are champions.

Vaguely remember a statistic saying 8 of the last 10 Premier League winners were top on Xmas Day, but I'm probably wrong.

Bill Shankly's 63-64 team also beat Man Utd 1-0 and 3-0.

Outwith football, Russia creating tensions with the West like the Cold War - when Liverpool were the best team (yes of course I would risk nuclear catastrophe for Liverpool being top - once the Cold War ended, it signalled the end of our era too), Kate Bush last did live gigs in 1979 - when Liverpool won the league.

      Anymore?

F**k, I do apologise, I meant 63-64 - Liverpool didn't get those results in 64-65. But definitely in Shankly's debut winning title.

      Re-edit that.

Also, 63-64 had the deadly striking duo of Ian St John and Roger Hunt - SAS are the first double act to score over 20 goals each in a season since them.

Fried beans... yeeuuk. That's a particularly English palate which is, sadly, creeping in; you lads are a nation of  bean eaters...

Bubba English:  "You can barbecue 'em, boil 'em, broil 'em, bake 'em, saute 'em. Dey's uh, bean-kabobs, bean creole, bean gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple beans, lemon beans, coconut beans, pepper beans, bean soup, bean stew, bean salad, bean and potatoes, bean burger, bean sandwich. That- that's about it."

Not necessarily an omen.... but - 25 years since Hillsborough

I always thought that our title in 89/90 was almost an 'aftershock' win, and then the trauma & grief hit afterwards

With the truth now coming out, the inquests starting, I think its time to 'heal the wound' and close that difficult chapter and walk on, with hope in our hearts, and open up a new title-winning chapter

Totally agree mate. With it being 25 years since Hillsborough and the truth now out I think it would be a very touching and fantastic tribute to the 96 to have Stevie G lift the premiership trophy to start a new era of Liverpool domination.

Not an omen or anything, but my cat was watching the television with rapt attention Sunday when Suarez scored, but I was watching the game on DVR, so I'm not sure if that counts since it wasn't live.

I was looking down the runners on the National this weekend and there's a horse called Walkon...if that wins then it's gotta be a sure fire thing we're gonna win the League.

If Walkon fails to win the National of course, then it's still a sure fire thing we're gonna win the League.

Right yesterday's game was my biggest fear of being a danger of dropping point's. So thank fcuk we put away that ''fat cnut's shower of non-playing bast*rd's to bed'' here's my omen. Born 11/05/1974. 40 years old 11/02/2014. Last game of the season 11/05/2014. What would i like for my B'day?........................ ....
On a side note my missus is due our 2nd baby since last wednesday against the Spud's on the previous Sunday i thought she might go but the game was a comfortable one so she was relaxed with me about the house.Yesterday at 1-1 when they scored she screamed like F**k with the pain, the wee 2 year old started screaming too along with mammy thinking little brother or sister was coming.Daddy(me) left the room fcuking&blinding when along came Thomas(2 1/2years old)behind me saying''Daddy it's ok,Mammy said we will win, baby will wait'' . Anyway we won & still waiting on baby to come.

I haven't washed my Gerrard shirt, and LFC run still goes on.

I will not wash it until we win the league/the season finishes.

It smells, but I will keep wearing it on match day

Talking about omens, the first goal today was scored inside 6 minutes after 9 wins in a row. The match also ended within the 96th minute. This match was truly a memorial for the 96.

Shanklys first title with us: we beat Man 3-0 and 1-0. We put 5 past Arsenal at Anfield. And we went top for the first time since December on 30th March 1964 by beating Tottenham when we had 6 games left.

Wore my Carra jersey the day we beat Everton 4-0, thought "F**k me, that went alright!"

      Hasn't been washed since.

Not superstitious much anymore (I F***ing tried EVERYTHING in the last few doldrum years) but that jersey aint being touched by any sanitary object until this season is over and I've drank from that cup (metaphorically speaking :D )

No omen I guess but that Mandela stuff is kinda weird.... When he was arrested we gained promotion to the first division, then when he was sentenced to life imprisonment we won our first league in 17 years and from then for the next 27 years we became the most successful British side winning all kinds of trophies, then he was released and that is when we won our last league title... and now that the great man (LFC fan if I'm not mistaken?) is sadly not with us anymore, it is looking like we could possibly win the league... Its nothing, but interesting to me nonetheless.

Not to put any extra pressure on us, but only 1 team has failed to win he league after achieving, since 3pts for a win came in, the 80pt+ mark first and that was Man Utd.
