      PFA awards
      Apr 18, 2014 01:19:58 pm

Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge short listed for PFA player of the year awards.

Quite rightly as well. Also Sterling and Sturridge up for young player of the year. Did it slip anyone else's mind that Danny was eligible for young player? Most seem to be convinced Hazard would get it but I'd say Danny deserves it more. No need to even discuss who will get the main award.

I just hope having more than one in the running doesn't split the vote.

No offence meant, but Sturridge shouldn't be up for young player.
Neither should Hazard. It should be an U21 category.

As such it should be Sterling's.

Yeah I agree, 23/24 is not exactly young in footballing terms.

Suarez for me,not because of all his goals but his all round play, the assists, tracking back, the passion and determination,

He has completely turned the media in their attitude to him(well most have) and that's no mean feat,

His own attitude has went full circle also which in all honesty I didn't think he would and would have gone elsewhere,

So, fair play to him, I believe he is settled now and he can enjoy many trophy laden yrs with us,

      Nice one Luis

      Sturridge.
He's had a fantastic season, as has Hazard,
but there is no way they should be up for young player.

At a guess it'll probably be:

      Player - Suarez
      "Young" Player - Hazard
      Manager - Rodgers

Not really. He may have been very important for us but his stats in terms of producing goals doesn't stack up against any of those on the list.

Terrific to see three LFC players on the main award shortlist and two on the young player list. Have we ever seen those kinda numbers before?

Almost half of those nominations are our lads, great to see.

Four English players up for young player as well, certainly has been a breakthrough season for a lot of English talent.

Fantastic to see so many of our lads up for awards. Very much deserved.

Top prize probably goes to Suarez for his sheer brilliance this season, though I think Gerrard might be a dark horse in that race seeing as he's willing us over the finish line. Don't discount romanticism in voting. That said, you really can't go wrong with either choice, and Sturridge should definitely be considered as well.

Agree that the young prize should u21, which would be a tossup between Sterling and Shaw in that case. My guess is Hazard will get it though, which seems unfair to Sturridge to not get an honor this season. He's been awesome this year too.

      No.

If Suarez wasn't isn't there yes but Luis is winning it all day, every day.

Sturridge will win the young player of the year.

Also special mention to the Liverpool ladies. Three of them also up for Player of the Year awards.

Indeed crouchie. Players getting recognised in the men and women's teams, firing on all fronts at all levels - it's a wonderful feeling to be a Liverpool fan at the moment.

suarez should get it with stevie a distant 2nd in votes.  however, luis has 4 games left to keep his cool.  In that city game, there were definitely flashes of an ugly suarez,  luckily it didn't fully make an appearance but it was there.

this award is luis' to lose.

for the young player, unless hazard does something stupid or sterling scores the PL winning goal for us, it would most probably go to hazard.  as awesome as sterling has been for us, hazard is just as critical if not even more for Chelsea's fortunes.

Perhaps not - but the qualities that make him so important to us also make it easier for others to create.

On that basis I think it is a shock - particularly in young player category (noting and agreeing with other comments that current definition flawed).

Aren't the votes already in though?

This is just the PFA publishing the names put forward I believe.
