So there you have it, Champions League nights at Anfield signed, sealed, and delivered

      Job done.

Your hopes, dreams, fears, points of view, expectations, "6 times tattoos", squad not big enough, potential signings, higher tier of players to choose from, money available, FSG, group stage possible opponents, and anything else that comes to mind

      Discuss :D

I'll kick off; 'if' Bayern's performances against the 'enemy' over 2 games is anything to go by, and seeing as they won it last time of asking, it could be a very interesting European campaign for us all.

Looking forward to not having to wait all week to see us play.  Looking forward to having CL nights back at Anfield.  Looking forward to watching the best in Europe trying to do something most teams in the EPL have failed to do this season, beat us at Anfield.  Looking forward to being back with the elite and spoken of as such.

Just looking forward to everything about competing in Europe again  ;D

At the start of this season we would have taken 4th place and being a lot closer to the top than we have been recently. So that level of realism matched to Brendan's lack of euro experience would see us get out of the group stages and have an outside chance of the qtrs. But given the way this season has panned out, the performances of the Mancs ( with the football genius in charge) and the Chavs, the fact that Barca seem to be on the slide at the mo and old big ears is not beyond us.

I think we will need a couple of top drawer defenders: fullback and CB. That's ok because they're cheaper than forwards. I think we need a keeper and a couple of quality midfielders.
I really think we will need these to compete on two fronts. These need to be Alaba, Varane, Pique quality. That is where I would spend cash. Is Luke shaw any good?
Midfield is easier go to South America and get a couple.

I am just excited to see if we keep the same relentless style of play in every match because there is no team in europe who could handle that.

Our explosive starts and the way we slice teams open with our movement and high tempo passing could really help us out in the away legs.

I think if we play our usual game we could well be bringing number 6 home next may... After pegging the mancs back to 20 all in league titles.

      Proper chuffed with this..!

At the start of the season I would have taken a tough 4th place - to be honest at Christmas even being top I would have taken 4th. All season we have been written off even for 4th by all around us so to achieve 3rd at worst is a great achievement - above that, well that's for another thread..!

Personally I have missed the music for the Champions League and being associated with it..! Its bloody awful watching the Europa - you know its the unloved cousin of the CL and that tomorrow the 'proper teams' will be playing. I look forward to the thought of Man Utd fans having to live with that for a season or five...

I shant harp on about needing to reach this season in season out - as today it is just great.

Brendan is a great manager, however I wonder how he will deal with the unique changes for European football - many have tried and failed and its no easy task - really looking forward to that...

More stress, then. This team nearly puts me in a hospital every weekend.

But I have missed the 4-6am alarms, the anthem at Anfield, the mood it puts you in for the rest of the day. All of it.

Can't wait to tw*t the first team that visits us. Hope it's one of the big teams.

Not sure how you expect us to be in the same pot as this year's winners and then draw them in the group stages. We could draw them as we will be in pot 2 but we certainly won't be in pot 1.

13 teams qualified for Group Stages so far (current UEFA ranking points)

      FC Barcelona 157
      Munich 154.3
      Real Madrid 154
      Benfica 124.3
      Atletico Madrid 115
      Dortmund 82.3
      Juventus 79.3
      Roma 39.8
      PSG 80.3
      Olympiakos 67
      Ajax 61.8
      Liverpool 58.9
      Sporting Lisbon 58.3

Monaco 11.3 (almost qualified for Group Stage)

Think we'd be very lucky to make the 2nd pot myself - nailed on to be the 3rd I say.

Still to seal automatic group stage qualification are another 7 teams
2 from England (Man City and Chelsea likely - better ranking points)
      1 from Germany
      1 from Ukraine
      1 from Russia
      1 from Turkey
      1 from Belgium

So we're already 12th in the rankings of teams who have qualified.

Throw in Chelsea and Man City who are likely to qualify and we're already 14th.

If Arsenal qualify then there's 15th and we haven't even looked at all the other European countries.

      Pot 3.

      Hopefully.

Look at it from this perspective, nobody will wants us as their pot 3 team. We know we're going to get some very hard teams, it's those teams in pots 1 & 2 that think they're going to qualify and get some much easier teams.

      Welcome to Anfield!

I have been looking at excuses to avoid seeing it and belittle the achievements of those who were winning it while we were out but now we are back in it and I am going to have a party. The great nights are back and we would be locking horns with some of the best in the world. Well done Reds, this was our target at the start of the season and well done for achieving it

You forgot the round of 16 but still its an even easier competition to win as we dont have to win them all. Even 5 draws would be enough for us to win it.
