      I know me and si picked a very similar 11 Bill but it doesn't strike me as odd.
      We are the same age ( I believe) so grew up watching the same players as fans..

      I read the question to be the 11 you have watched.. So as much as I understand the importance and love for the likes of Billy Liddell, Phil Neal, St John, Souness, Clem and even the like of Albert Stubbins they all pre dated me in terns of watching them.
      It doesn't suprise me that me and Si had similar sides, I remember watching from the mid 80s on, 86 to be exact so I had that team, the late 80s Kenny side which a fair few of my side are in, that's probably the best side I've watched, then the early 90s Souness sides, Roy Evans, Gerard Houllier, Rafa Benitez, Kenny again, Brendan's tricky reds and that other fella..
      An all time favorite of my time watching those and Si as well it doesn't suprise me we at every similar, yet I fully understand a gentleman of your generation wouldn't think twice about say Didi.. Yet in my time Didi was such a sound bloke and good player he gets in..

      If we all picked an all time 11 over our history it would probably be very similar.

      Anyway I just took it as half hour to stop worrying about the title than something else to get wound up about

       :D

      That's how I seen it as well Jon.

      I'd imagine most of us around our age would pick a very similar side as I too was only looking at players I remember watching playing.

      Irrespective of how old you are I can't even bring myself to quote someone who throws players such as Finnan in there!

      :D

      To be fair with those people though, if they want to name only players they've watched, choosing a RB is a difficult task for younger fans. If one doesn't like our current player of that position (and a lot of people don't), they're left with either Arbeloa or Finnan (not to mention the likes of Josemi, Kromkamp, etc).

      Finnan was a UCL champion and very reliable for years, I for one liked him very much.

      Out of the two I'd have Arbeloa for this thread.

      For the celebration alone.

      I still can't do it, every time I think of a position say right back for example, I think Nicol, then I think what about Rob Jones or Markus Babel ?

      Too fooking hard.

      I thought I would try and pick a Liverpool overseas side : Reina, Arbeloa, Skrtel, Hypia, Risse, Mascherano , Alonso, Garcia, Suarez, Kuyt. Leaving Torres to sulk on the bench

      Just reminded me about Dirk David.

      I loved Kuyt and he'd be on my bench.

      I think.

      Tough one this.

      If I'm only going for players I've seen...crumbs, even that's not easy, though we are going for adored, not necessarily the best.

      Bruce Grobbelaar

      Steve Nicol
      Jamie Carrager
      Sami Hyppia
      Lucas Leiva
      Jan Molby
      Steven Gerrard
      John Barnes

      Almost impossible this one so I will go with MY most adored. For my own reasons, these are the players I adored for one reason or another.

      GK = Ray Clemence

      RB= Rob Jones
      CB = Alan Hansen
      CB = Ron Yeats
      LB = Emlyn Hughes

      RM = Steve Heighway
      CM = Graeme Souness
      CM = Steven Gerrard
      LM = John Barnes

      CF = Kenny Dalglish
      CF = Roger Hunt

      These are the players I adored over the years. I have left a few out and so will not name a subs bench as that would be an insult to those I have left out.

      Was chucking Arby in there until I remembered JDs post :D

      Arby was safe as houses and kept Messi quiet as a mouse at Nou Camp. Still on of the best managerial moves from Rafa and the performance from Arby backed up the brilliance.

      But I did love Finn. Unsung hero.

      What about Craig Skippy Johnston for our Aussie lads, even though he was born in South Africa. And for us scousers  the 1965 F.A. Cup hero left back Gerry Byrne. He was certainly adored then by us fans.

      Sorry did not think of Craig, Gerry Byrne was not an overseas player, so would not qualify.

      Gerry being a local lad certainly qualified as a very much adored player after his heroic display in 1965.I never intended that Gerry  was an overseas player and that is why I said for us scousers.

      My apologies Billy, I realised I should have included him in the original 11 after his heroics in that cup final in 1965 against Leeds. Have met him when he came to live in North Wales, truly nice lad.
