Claire House- PLEASE READ

Hi everyone,

As some of you may or may not know, I have agreed to run the Chester Half Marathon on the 18th May with little or no training. Some of you may call me mad but it's for an excellent cause. Now that's where you all come in!!

I am running the half marathon for Claire House Children's hospice. For those of you who don't know, Claire House:

"provides a home-from-home environment for children and young people, helping enrich their lives so they can live them to the full. The hospice provides respite and end-of-life care for children and young adults with life-limiting medical conditions. We’re also there for their entire family, providing support and counselling for as long as is needed. "

But they also do a lot of work outside the hospice grounds, with nurses working throughout the community to help those most in need.

Guys, I really need your support. We are aiming to raise £1500 and have so far raised £1005. I have agreed to do it after one or two have dropped out through injury and have had to hit the ground running. Would really appreciate if any of you could provide any donation. Okay mate, been to the Doc's and he said it's a bit of gastritis. I did a 10km run on Tuesday (probably shouldn't have) and asked if it was okay to do the half on Sunday. I know my own limits, if I am in pain I'll not do it. But today I've been able to eat a bit and haven't thrown up or been in pain so, all being well over the next few days, I'll be sound for Sunday.

Drink about two litres of water between the day before and morning of the race.

Isotonic drink about half an hour before.
Another one after the race.

Carbs the night before.

Light breakfast.

It was very difficult keeping away from the booze today Debs. Sat at a barbaque, avoiding all the cool beer and cider but it will all be worth it. Worth a little donation for that guys!

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes and donations. I completed the half marathon in 1 hour 45 minutes (a whole 6 minutes shorter than this time last year) so I am delighted with that. I've not had a drink as I was driving but I sat in Chester in the sun afterwards and had a fantastic day, if not a little sunburnt. Once again, thanks for all your support and donations. We are currently just below £2000 in the donation stakes and I don't see it rising too much higher but the Semple family still have to donate and I aim to piss a few people off in work tomorrow looking for donations.
