Remy's yours for £8m: QPR boss Redknapp says striker can leave as Arsenal and Liverpool ponder move

Harry Redknapp has revealed that QPR striker Loic Remy is available for around £8million.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both monitoring the French international's situation as his season-long at Newcastle comes to an end.
Remy signed for QPR from Marseille for £8million in January 2013 on a four-and-a-half year deal but his six goals were not enough to keep them up.

The 27-year-old netted a further 14 Premier League goals in 26 appearances for Newcastle last season, sparking interest from Arsenal and Liverpool among others.

QPR returned to the top flight on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Derby in the SkyBet Championship play-off final but Redknapp does not expect to be able to call on Remy's services next season.

'I don't see (Loic) Remy wanting to come back and play,' said Redknapp. 'He's talking about playing Champions League somewhere.

'I wouldn't know what he'll do, but I think he's got a buy-out clause which is at a reasonable level.

'Not much more than we paid for him.'

I know it is a dodgy source but there is a direct quotes.

I would love him for the right price, 8-11M. He is quite a good player.

Surely we are now aiming for better quality than Remy?

That is one side of seeing it and the other side is that since SAS will be the first choice, Remy will be a very good back up. We can do better quality spend elsewhere.

      Like who?
Why spend £20M+ on another striker for him to play second fiddle? £8M for Remy seems the ideal deal to me, sign him up

Might turn out to be a better bet than Konoplyanka or Pedro.

Might. For that amount quoted and his versatility across the front-3. We can afford to increase our bid for Lallana. But his presence at the Emirates do confuse things. Surely Arsenal would want a star striker or may be he is just replacing Podolski as a squad option

Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Borini, Remy, Ibe - that's a pretty good mix I say, and extremely versatile

I'd take an £8m gamble on him, not that it would be much of a gamble, he scored 14 goals in 26 appearances for Newcastle, I'd rather rely on him than Aspas or Borini.

I've seen a lot worse; not the 'starter' I would have hoped for but certainly versatile and a quality back-up I'd have confidence in.

For a back up option, would prefer demba ba. More prolific and probably cheaper.

For 8-11M, he will be a bargain at that price. He's 27 so has 4 good more years. He is proven in English football plus he lives in Northern England not down in London so he will adapt to liverpool too.

Ba is very injury prone so no I think Remy is better.

      Echoes my thoughts completely.

As I see it we've got two choices when it comes to reinforcing our striking department. Option a is to go out and buy a proper 9 like Remy at a reasonable price OR we spend big on a player such as Sanchez who is first and foremost a wide player/inside right but can also play as a 9

Cheaper; probably. More prolific; I'm not sure.

He's certainly not as quick, versatile or technically gifted as Remy and given the choice I reckon Brendan would go with Remy who's closer to the 'profile' of a Rodgers player (in my opinion, of course).

Or option c - buy both... a player like Remy and a player like Sanchez.  ;D

Remy is a much better option than Ba.

      Never really rated Ba.

I dont think Remy is good enough for us, even as a backup, buts thats my opinion.

The interesting thing is, I assume, Arsenal are looking at him as a first team starter and we're looking for a backup. So he's either better than I think or Wenger doesnt know what he is doing. I suppose Wenger knows better than me, and BR definitely does.

He is better than Ba tho.

Any legs in the Shaqiri rumors, I don't think this will happen unless we sell Borini

I would bloody well hope so Vicks. I know our scouts are bad, but if there aren't any legs then surely someone has spotted there's a problem. :D

Without a doubt that would be the best option mate! However, I have a feeling that with needs at full back, centre-mid and probably centre-half as well I suspect this supposed bumper kitty isn't quite as big as we would all like it to be.

There's so many factors inflating prices this summer that at £8m this one just seems too easy and obvious and for those reasons we wont bother  :f_tongueincheek:

      1) World Cup
      2) Valencia just taken over by a billionaire
      3) PSG already setting the tone by paying a ludicrous fee for Luiz
      4) Influx of money from TV deal

"our value" may very well be completely washed over by what the actual market value is of players this summer and the sooner we can get deals done the better.

£8m for a lad who has 40 games in the prem and 20 goals to his name is great business for a back up striker.

My biggest question is if he would be happy to come in and be that back-up though.

Would be a good deal at 8 million - I wouldn't be surprised to see chelsea and Spurs joining the race though.

Loic Remy for £8m would be a fantastic move.

Strikers - Suarez, Sturridge, Remy, Borini
Wingers/Attackers - Sterling, Ibe, Coutinho, Suso

I might be stupid, but I just get the feeling he can be the next Thierry Henry. Didn't realize he was 27 mind you.

Just scored with a tidy finish for France. If he's cheap enough, why not?
