Its an attempt at the turkish pronunciation which my mate has corrected me on many times, but I think its more jan then chan.

I got my old man on about it all the time how can they say its chan with no h in it unless c is pronounced ch in turkey ?

The C in Can is pronounced like the G in beige (the colour).

"C" is sometimes (or just in names, I don't know) pronounced with a  "Ch" sound in Turkey. Had a half Turkish ex-girlfriend whose surname started with "C"
