Dele Alli poised for Liverpool move as MK Dons start talks over £3.5m summer switch

Liverpool are hopeful of completing a £3.5million summer swoop for MK Dons wonderkid Dele Alli.

The Anfield club have opened talks with the League One club over a move for the 18-year-old midfielder.

The deal for Alli, who is viewed as one of the brightest talents outside the Barclays Premier League, could rise to £8million.

Liverpool are having to fight off competition for Alli from England's elite clubs, with Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United all monitoring his situation.

Alli made his debut for MK Dons as a 16-year-old and was a regular for the club last season, making 37 appearances and scoring seven goals, despite his age.

Speaking in March, MK Dons manager Karl Robinson said: 'He is one of the most gifted 17-year-olds this country has ever seen.

'I've said from the word go, he's as good as it gets and he's the best young player I've ever worked with.'

I'm an MK fan but this video is so... poor.

The thing he is good at is controlling the midfield, getting into great attacking positions. He looks like he's about 30 with how well he reads the game, and can pick a pass and make amazing runs. This video does him no justice, doesn't show a quarter of what he can do.

As for people moaning about nearly missing an open goal - did you see the pitch he was on... He's got a great first touch, the video doesn't do him justice. He's getting amazing reviews and a big price tag for a reason, don't judge on one video. Same way you should never judge how good a player is, never judge how 'bad' he is either.

Interesting read if he really is an MK fan. Taken from a YT poster :D

I'm always pleased to be linked with and of course signing the next big thing. Probably 19 times out of 20 they don't develop into world class players but they're generally safe bets to improve and with that so does their value. If in time we end up selling him for a nice profit and buying a world class player on the back of it then he serves a purpose.

Or hit the jackpot and he turns into a world class player for £3.5m, these really are the low risk - high reward types of signings we need to catch up. While we're doing this though we of course need to strengthen our first team too.

The question would be where do our priorities lie, in these safe bets or in strengthening the first team for a proper crack at success now. With us being a year ahead of schedule this summer should give us valuable insight into what FSG want to aim for.

Anyone else watch the game against ManU? He destroyed them.

It'll be tough when he steps up to the Premier League and faces proper competition compared to last night though.
