Who will we get first game??

      I reckon Leicester away..... ;D

There is a leak out already that we play Arsenal at home, can't see it myself.

Always exciting though to see who we play and when.

Time to plan for next season.....bring it on  :kop5cf8koxp6:

Mind you Pete....Arsenal at home would be an easy 3 points to get us off to a good start...another 5-1  :scarf:

There was once a time that I worried about getting a difficult away tie or a fellow big team in the first fixture or two, this season you could give me any team and I'd be 100% confident of getting 3 points.

I'm hoping for a Reds home game on September 13th.  I'm crossing the pond for my honeymoon and the wife-to-be has ok'd a match if there is one that weekend and we can find tickets.  Probably wishful thinking, but a guy can dream.

Had a horrible feeling it was the International break that week so there wouldn't have been a match but I've just checked and its the week before  ;)

Not really bothered who we get 1st game, we'll be up for it  ;D

I don't know the order but there is a general pattern to our fixtures, it may have something to do with logistics.

I'm guessing we'll play, Arsenal & Man United at home before the turn of the year.

And I reckon we'll play Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle and Everton away before we play them at home.

After saying that, I bet I'm way off.  :D

First game of the season, I'm going with the thread OP, Leicester away.

Away first game of the season.

Away last game of the season.

Hope not, but I think it will be. If I was offered either or, I'd gladly take the first away for the last at home. I always want a home game on the last day if a result is needed.

Otherwise, I want the mancs away asap and get it over with, and the home game after Christmas. Haven't had it though since 2011.  Last year, bar the fixtures against the mancs,  the schedule was quite favourable and it was a massive help in the run in. All the focus is on the first 6 games, but getting a good run in is more important imo.

For some reason, that looks tough (well in btw S@int with your prediction), Citeh and Spurs both away games 2 & 3. October looks okay, Feb, looks a tough month too.

Throw in the CL too and I think it will be quite a slog next season.

So if we've got a shot at the title come next spring, our final seven matches will be:

      Newcastle United (H)
      Hull City (A)
      West Bromwich Albion (A)
      Queens Park Rangers (H)
      Chelsea (A)
      Crystal Palace (H)
      Stoke City (A)

That could be a lot worse.

P.S  Who does the draw?...especially since we already got Lambert and potentially sign Lallana and Lovren. Fireworks for sure. Rigged, I say.

P.S  Who does the draw?...especially since we already got Lambert and potentially sign Lallana and Lovren. Fireworks for sure. Rigged, I say.
The same tw*t that said the mancs losing is bad for the Premier League's global appeal.

Derby game at home first for the first time since 2003. Arsenal and Chelsea away in the last 5 away games, and away last. We'll need points in the bank going into a very tough run in.

Christmas programme is ok. The games against the mancs fall at good times. City away is over with early. Other than that, it could have been better.

Speaking of the Everton game, my sister and I may be in town then (great timing!). What's the best avenue to try get two tickets in the Kop for that game? Just wait until closer, or can I apply for something even from Australia now to help us get a ticket each.

Had a feeling we'd get a tough first few games. I wouldn't like to be M. Utd come March and April though, if they are near the top come that time then they could throw it away in those two months.

Ow -  I do love this time of season... Get this printed and on the fridge straight away me thinks...

Funny thing is, I look at all the games and start to over thing it all - we all have to play the same teams the same amount of times. The order shouldn't matter too much - yes its a tough start and yes it can help / hinder the flow and momentum. However, if we win the first 3 games we will not win the league - it will however be better to get City (the only  two games I think we will lose before its started) out of the way IMO.

Run in is good IMO - but as many have said winning the league is about not losing to Hull or dropping 3 goals to Palace.

This will be a tough season, I now hope looking at the games and realising last season got us nothing more than 6 tough European (as a minimum) games and they get BR's targets and get us ready for this season...

Pre-season is going to be crucial with the fixtures we have got first up.

Does anyone else remember Gerrard saying BR's first pre-season was the toughest he'd ever had, or did I dream this?

Anyway, along with BR's training, and our excellent pre-season games, we should be in good shape on the opening day.

I'm going for Southampton at Anfield as our first game, with Lallana still playing for Southampton.

      Creepy....

      Do we win the league?

I dont buy into all this tough start, easy run in stuff. If were serious about winning it we play whoever whenever. The one thing I will look out for is the champions league dates to see who we play before or after. Those 12 games (either side of the 6 champions league group games) will be the most important games of our season for me

We need to stick with the mantra. 10 points every 5 games. Let's see where it gets us by March.

To be honest the start of the season usually sees smaller teams pick up points as the so called bigger teams have yet to reach full throttle, swings and roundabouts.

Interestingly enough I wrote down win lose draw beside the fixtures this morning. When I read your quote above I went back and looked at what I predicted in blocks of 5 games. We don't fail at all to pick up 10 points or more every 5 games albeit in my version of events!!

For what its worth I predict we win 25 draw 9 lose 4. Finish with 84 points. Only 1 defeat in the opening 15 games. Our best sequence of wins to be 6 from Burnley away to west Ham at home. Sadly I predict Everton away to be the end of that run and 1 of our 4 defeats.

      Pretty thin?

The new season fixture announcement has been a unique one for me. Mate is a massive Leicester fan so, strangely, it was the first fixture I looked for, neither date is great for us to be honest. Also, this coming season I am likely to have a season ticket (I say 'have', I mean 'share') so it all seems little surreal. Can't wait!

      Quote from JD
Neither do I.  Made a dogs dinner of Palace and then almost made a bollock of Newcastle at home - a game I had down as the banker of all bankers.

It was a home banker. Palace was going well until they scored from 30 yards out of nothing.

Fixture lists are scheduled. The circumstances they are played in are not. There can be no argument whether it's better for a confident side in good form at full strength to play opponents that have key players out,  long injury lists, many games in short time frames, or have nothing to play for, than the reverse at a different time of the season. Having games in hand, and playing games when you know what result you need to keep up with rival clubs or take advantage of their slip ups is also valuable.

Last season, we had the manc home game as they were adjusting to their new coach, while the away game was off the back of a great run for us and a poor one for them. While if we had Arsenal, Spurs, City, and Everton away in the second half of last season, it's very likely that we wouldn't have got the points and position we did.

The mancs are away on the last day for the fourth year in a row. Arsenal, City, and Chelsea are all at home on the last day. So I  certainly hope that we're not going to Stoke needing a result and/or rely on favours, as it's considerably harder to get it there than at home to Palace.

For selfish reasons, I am glad that England got knocked out of the WC so early.  I have tickets to the preseason game in Chicago against Olympiacos and if England had progressed then there would be less chance of those players getting a run out in this game.  As it is, with the season scheduled to kickoff less than 3 weeks from the date of this game, I expect I'll be able to see at least a handful of our stars in action for 45 minutes or so :)

10 Reds fixtures rearranged for TV

Liverpool's opening six matches of the 2014-15 Barclays Premier League season, and a total of 10 before December, have today been rescheduled for television coverage.

The Reds will now officially kick off their campaign on Sunday August 17, when Southampton visit Anfield for a 1.30pm BST fixture that will be broadcast by Sky Sports.

Subsequent journeys to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur will be shown on the same channel, on Monday August 25 at 8pm and Sunday August 31 at 1.30pm respectively.

The home clash with Aston Villa remains on Saturday September 13, though kick-off is now 5.30pm on Sky Sports, who will then televise the trip to West Ham United at 5.30pm on Saturday September 20.

Liverpool debut on BT Sport in the first Merseyside derby of the season; Brendan Rodgers' side host Everton on Saturday September 27, with kick-off scheduled for 12.45pm.

Sky Sports will screen the Reds' away fixture at Queens Park Rangers, which has been moved to a 1.30pm start on Sunday October 19.

On Saturday November 1, BT Sport broadcast the clash with Newcastle United at St James' Park. Kick-off has been rearranged for 12.45pm. A week later, Saturday November 8, the same channel will show Liverpool at home to Chelsea with the same kick-off time.

Finally, Rodgers' charges will feature on Sky Sports when they meet Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. That match now begins at 1.30pm on Sunday November 23.

Please note that the fixtures against Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace are subject to change, depending on Champions League commitments.

Not sure where to put this so here seems best.

I've just checked last season results and without Suarez we'd have lost 3 more matches and drawn 7 thereby costing us 23 points and leaving us in 8th position, so all BR needs to do is find players to score 26 goals and the leagues ours.

Piece of piss this football management malarkey I tells ya!  :P
