He's going to have a hard time getting into the team ahead of Coutinho when he gets back.

Coutinho is looking unstoppable this preaseason.

Agree with this, they won't have to rush him back either as we have plenty of cover.

F**k! As long as Markovic, Sterling and Coutinho stay fit then ok but it's risky business now! I bet he'll make his debut in the first Champions League group match. That should focus his mind!

Never wish injury on a player but the doom and gloom is a bit over the top as he wasn't that good anyway.  We're not going to miss him.

If Coutinho or Sterling got injured on the other hand....

So i'd imagine Markovic will get a chance to prove himself. Hey, we might even be thanking the heavens that Lallana got injured in a couple of months.

Well that's sh*t luck if there is any for Lallana.

Think we're covered, though. Coutinho left, Sterling right, Can and Hendo ahead of Gerrard in the middle.

On the other side, so is saying "he wasn't that good anyway" when he's not played a minute yet for us.

Wow Fed, he has not played a competitive match for us, was one of the gaffers main targets and this comes out of your mouth that he is basically  sh*te.

I sure as f**k am glad your not running the club.

yea because Moses, Aspas, Alberto, Cissokho, Assaidi etc were all just blinders weren't they....  if I were running the club I would have vetoed all those transfers.  :)

Lallana is not a bad player at all but he's definitely not better than Coutinho, who would have started ahead of him anyway.

Injuries happen to all teams and it's better getting one now than later down the line. Think we have enough to cope with his loss, either Markovic or Remy down the left instead of Lallana.

Fed is talking out of his area today.

we really, really don't.  Stevie and Henderson are pretty much guaranteed starters in midfield.  Sterling and Sturridge are guaranteed starters in the front three.  I think Markovic is pretty much guaranteed to start as well in the front three.  That leaves one player left in midfield and there is no way Coutinho is getting dropped on his current form.  We'll line up like this:

      Gerrard Henderson
      Coutinho
      Sterling Sturridge Markovic

Lallana is not getting in ahead of any of those players, sorry but it's true.

I was actually looking forward to seeing him play at the weekend but it's not to be, and now we've just got to ensure that Coutinho and Sterling remain in decent shape.

Agree with fed that we won't miss him, and it is better that he's sustained this injury now opposed to in November/December when fixtures become congested.

I'm gutted for the lad. But it's not the end of the world, so long as we keep our other midfielders fit we can bring him back gradually and introduce him that way. There will still be plenty of football for him to play for us.

Whilst Fed's words were harsh on Lallana, you could make an argument for why he wouldn't start in our first 11. However, you could also make an argument for why he would. It's hard luck for Lallana but provides the other attacking new comers the perfect opportunity to try and cement their place in the starting 11.

You can quite easily see Lallana either starting or coming on at some point in each match bearing in mind the age and inexperience of the other players around him. Raheem and Markovic at 19 and 20. Coutinho also is still hit and miss.

"inexperience"?  so Lallana has "experience" does he?

Lallana has played precisely TWO SEASONS in a league at the top tier of domestic football, the rest of his career he was plying his trade in the Championship, League 1 etc.

Coutinho has played FOUR seasons in the top level of domestic football, two with Inter Milan, half a season with Espanyol, and now a season and a half with us.

Coutinho has also played 19 games in the Champions League; Adam Lallana has never played a single minute in the Champions League.

But apparently Lallana is "more experienced."  Okay then.
