Don't really do stats but this is pretty good for the lad.

Was only dispossessed once with a pass completion rate of 88%. He also played more passes than anyone on the pitch and recovered the ball 7 times.

No idea on the interceptions but I do remember at least 2.

Incredibly mature, calm and measured. He's not actually a youngster at 23 (Young enough I suppose) but we should not be discouraging late bloomers at all.

He's got a lot more to offer to Liverpool than say someone like Teixera of similar age (who I think is too lightweight and too ineffective for us).

He's a good squad player for us - I'm not saying he's going to be a world beater, but having him available certainly beats spunking £10 million on a squad player for some young Barca B lightweight from Spain or wherever. He' proven himself to be a handy player for us when called upon.

Agreed mate. Be will be useful in long, long season.

He needs to make sure he warms up properly before a game. Every time I see him he looks very shaky at first however when he comes into his own he looks a tidy player. Needs to play from whistle to whistle if he wants to keep appearing in the team, but there is undoubted ability in there. Solid player.

Not wishing to put the boot in on our Academy graduates in anyway but despite a few tidy performances let's not kid ourselves that this lad is any better than Jay Spearing, I'd argue he is pretty much the same player and that his ceiling will be at a similar level to Jay's.

I reserve concluded judgement on the lad at the mo, especially the Spearing comparison.

Based on watching the lad play! What else is it going to be based on?

He's a solid, roll your sleeves up, hard-working, keep it simple midfielder. Hence the comparison with Jay Spearing. I'd be interested to hear what anybody else has seen in the lad above and beyond the attributes I've just listed?

Would you rather we spunk £10 million on sh*te like Luis Alberto or Illori?

Or, perhaps, we should give guys like Stewart a chance and save our transfer funds to spend on actual quality?

Maybe you're right mate but whilst he's putting in those tidy performances and still learning and developing in training who knows what level he can end up at.

Don't forget this lad has only had 6 years of pro coaching unlike most who start with an Academy at 6 or 7 years of age.  Of course he's a long way to go if he's to become a regular but we still need a squad and a good one at that so if he improves and stays we've got a good one.

Technically not really a Academy graduate, we bought him from Spurs!!

He'll be a good defensive midfielder.

Yes, Lucas played as central defender. He played decently.

Of course not, what a silly thing to say. Two shocking buys.

BUT coming back to Stewart, I'm not saying don't give him a chance, he's getting one at the moment. Football's a game of opinions and my opinion is he is solid little player and based on the standard of football this club has produced for all but 5 of the last 6 seasons (ie.6th/7th place) he fits perfectly. But if we want to be a top 4 club challenging for trophies we will need better.

Stewart is an okay footballer,,,,,after being given the chance to play in a good few games he has shown the quality of a lower division player but not premier league pedigree. Anyone who thinks he should have a place on the LFC squad is clearly not watching him closely and clearly has no aspirations of challenging for the title. In the last few games particularly he has consistently given the ball away and made very little impact. Against Watford he gave the ball away at least 10 times that I can remember.

Hmmm.... 6 appearances, 87% passing accuracy, 0 defensive errors isn't that bad considering he's a right back, not a defensive midfielder.

He might not be regular, starting 11 standard or someone to build the team around for a team challenging for the Title but he's done a decent job when called upon and we need these types of players for rotation purposes.

No more, no less. And in no way is that a bad thing. Think he's done well.
