Lazar Markovic (Liverpool > Fulham)

I wasn't blaming him. My point was that with the three CB's one of the main weaknesses is the space that can be exploited between the wing back and the right/left centre back. Yes Jones should have saved that but the build up came from the left flank, that space between Markovic and Sakho.

Definitely agree on attack over defence at the moment though!

Why blame Markovic when we have Gerrard and Lucas who should be covering of spaces left by our attacking players?

Finally seeing the good side to Markovic. Wasn't impressed with his cameo appearances before the United match but in his last 2 matches he has looked really good. I love the way he just runs past people with ease and that cross to Henderson for the first goal last night was quality. You see it time and time again where fast wingers have no ability to cross a ball (Young, Walcott, Lennon)

Really like how hard Marcovic works for the team, sprinted back every time possession was losses to get back to his defensive duties. Johnson,Moreno should have noticed that whilst watching. At least I hope so

It's not Markovic's priority to cover space - that is up to Gerrard, but how can we when he is unable to because he is immobile?

A major flaw in Brendan's tactics - we need holding midfielders who are quick and physical.

Markovic created much needed space for us though - desperately needed.

He was everywhere on the pitch. Great with the ball, pressed high and always in a position to hurt them.

Hope he builds on it.

Markovic just looked to have lost all his confidence earlier in the yr.
Unrecognisable from his 1st pre season appearance.

Now he seems to be clawing a little back.

Hopefully the cheapskates will buy some experience in Jan to guide him along.
But I wouldnt bet my house on it.

Has to start at the weekend. Probably wont as he was our best player the other night but hopefully...

We need to be patient with this lad because he will be crucial to us in the very near future . He was unstoppable for us today and the Arse couldn't contain him and his pace . now to get him scoring is another thing .

I love Lazar and thought he was only okay today. He have the ball away too often to have had a good game for me!

I don't know what they have been feeding this lad but he has really turned a corner since coming back into the side. I've given him a bit of stick in this thread because (to be frank) he was woeful but he has been excellent the past few games. He is running past players, has shown a decent touch and I've also been impressed with his ability to win it in the air.

 Really like the way he plays, he and Lallana and Sterling and Coutinho seem to have a good understanding for each other. I think they are going to prove hard to contain the more time they spend together on the pitch.

Whats happening with him now is almost exactly what happened at Benfica. Comes in and is a wee bit sh*t. A few months later vastly improved and by the end of the year Benfica fans think they were robbed to only get 20mil for him. Lets hope he continues to get better and better.

Good show again, maybe a bit unlucky to be subbed off today. Positive on the ball, passing was generally forward and accurate.

Once he gets his fitness up, can see him playing the full 90 minutes in most games, for the rest of the season.

Markovic had an absolutely brilliant first half. Combined well, timed his runs forward perfectly, and he showed some good vision coupled with incisive passing. The boy can play. And we'd do well to keep giving him starts.

My only quibble is he did noticeably fade in the second half, so it was the right call to take him off IMO.

He is adjusting his game and improving week by week.

Can't be easy at that age to move to a completely new country and style of play while trying to fit into a struggling team. Sterling took a while to settle as well. Similarly with him i remember there were posts saying he should be sent out on loan etc - good thing that didn't happen when you look at how much he has improved.

Markovic seems a very very exciting player and seems a decent lad; I think he will go very far for us.

He deserved to be the man of the match against Arsenal.
He played wery well and was good on the ball,created a few chances and was good oweral.He will only be beter and beter,no doubt about that.
I am only interested will he be able to fight for the first team position when we get our strikers back and when Sterling gets back to his natural position.

His acceleration is immense. There was a moment yesterday, when he was showed inside by their RB, and he reached near their box within no time and passed it to Lallana and continued his run.

He has that unique ability to run away from defenders with a drop of shoulder like Owen in his prime and Messi. Extremely effective when to run through the middle.

I think its a bit too much to compare him to Owen and Messi.
