I would actually consider making him Captain!  :couch:
I believe he's sorted his problems out and looks much more balanced now.

he really looks like he is playing in a comfort zone now and is very commanding.

Everyone that isn't on International duty is expected to report for pre season training in 2 weeks mate.  The article is in Jurgens thread from last week.  He says there's too much work still to do and not enough time to do it if they get their usual summer holidays.

I didn't read it like that Debs. I thought he meant that where as normally the players would get 6 weeks break they will only get 4 weeks due to the Euro's and he intended to cut that (the 4 weeks)to two weeks and that might mean that he would also have to extend pre-season by 2 weeks for the players coming back from the Euro's.

Don't think we will be starting pre-season in June mate.

I couldn't find the article so I'm just going off memory, so I could be wrong :)

Just re read it mate and you're right.

They'll get 2 weeks of complete rest - sleep - as he puts it then they have a pre arranged 2 week programme of fitness work to do at home so they return 60%-70% ready to go into the triple sessions he's got planned.

Those coming back late, not just from the Euros but the Copa America and any who go to the Olympics won't be ready for the start of the season.

Maybe the calls for captain are still a bit exaggerated considering his last two games?

Don't see why we would do that. Ruins Hendo and there is still question marks over Dejan.

I like Dejan though. Maybe vice captain.

He's the obvious stand out choice to be captain, has been for some time now. The problem with Henderson, Milner and Lucas is that they struggle to get into our best team so therefore may not play. Lovren obviously doesn't have the same problem so it's a bit of a no brainer really.

Think he is miles off captain to be honest. I'd say there are huge question marks over consistency and his own mentality to be giving him that role.

If the boss wants him as Captain then so be it. He's seen something.

Mad the way people demanded that Rodgers was sacked, then demanded that it should be Klopp and now argue about every decision he makes. Not so much here but it's everywhere.

      Weird.

I personally don't see the point in continuing the captaincy of Henderson if his position in midfield, even the whole squad is not certain for the long term. The central defence, as far as I can see, is Lovren + 1. Reliable, smart, vocal - does anyone consider that Hendo is a better natural leader than Lovren as well?

I don't get it either particularly when Hendo was lambasted from all quarters for his poor performance and many people's perceptions that he wasn't leading the team very well in a team castigated for its lack of leadership. Why would I bother challenging Klopp...I mean it's Jürgen F***ing KLOPP! The man exudes infinite examples of great leadership and knowledge so he should know.

I don't think Henderson performed well as Captain maybe he would feel less pressure if he was relieved of this job

All gone quiet on Lovren. For me he's still not the top class defender we need and I would love to replace him.

      What's everyone else's thoughts?

Agree he is still prone to errors, he was lucky not to concede a penalty against Burton.

Although he has reduced his error count the weaknesses he has always had are still very evident. Too easily beaten in a 1 v 1 situation, rash in his decision making and has a poor passing range.

I think it is interesting that he played on the left of the two against Burton when Matip came in. His resurgence seems to have come when he began playing on the right with Sakho on the left, and has certainly looked more comfortable there. It will be interesting to see how this develops for him.

And yet Jürgen seems to rate him very highly. On this one I agree with the manager, Lovren remains an absolutely top quality player, one of the best we have in any position.
