The 'as it stands right now' starting 11

I'd agree with this in part, although I'd be inclined to swap Ibe for Lambert. Either that or go three up front (with Lambert) and drop one of the midfield four.

Ibe on for Lambert in the second half, when Southampton are tiring.

Wouldn't mind trying Coutinho on the right instead of the left. He doesn't do anything to trouble the keeper cutting in from the left so might as well have him dancing on the right and cutting it back in for someone else to shoot.

Funny thought but when I look at our team I can't help but feel we do need a bit more proven quality in attack, however I can't decide on who to leave out when I'm going through the team guessing formations. In two or three seasons when the young lads start to develop nearer to their peak we can be F***ing deadly. 

Obvious swap would be Lambert for another striker while Sturridge is out but even then I have faith in Rickie once the season starts and he's 100%.

I just don't know enough of the new lads to include them.

Given we now have Sturridge, Lallana and Markovic (F**k) out injured, I'd say our best 11 looks something like this.
I've left lovren out because he hasn't played a minute of pre-season, but it wouldn't be the first time Brendan has
picked a player as soon as they are available. I've put Johnson and Enrique in but hopefully we sign somebody in the coming weeks.

He'll play definitely, however if I am honest with myself (it doesn't mean I'm right and he is my favourite LFC player no doubt) I would be putting that team in. If Stevie plays however I would start him.

I think the only long term injury is Lallana.

Can't have everything. Barca used width in Alves, and now Alba not much else really. The guys like Pedro etc made the darting runs in behind and used the space that the wide men take. Johnson is still capable of getting forward but not defending. He can do that for us. Flanagan can defend. It think Sterling, Coutinho and Sturridge can do the movement and the Henderson and Can be the steel and engine and Lucas the brains.

I know it is early and the competition has been about fitness, But:  Right now I would not be leaving Emre Can out of the starting XI...I don't know what else a brand new player to this club could show in pre-season that he has not.

Just looks to be a future top top player for LFC.

That's how I imagined our team but to be honest I have seen very little of the pre-season where Can is supposed to be shining!

Do you think Flanno and Enrique can give us enough width with that formation? Otherwise I love the look of it and would love to see Sterling and Sturridge paired together up top.

That's fair enough (I don't think Stevie will start every game either due to fitness), but when you said 'footballing 11' I thought you meant you were putting out an 11 which was most comfortable and skilled on the ball. I fail to see how Stevie wouldn't be one of those players.

As has been said, that's what we use our FBs for and why Rodgers is looking to bring in Moreno at LB, since he offers a lot more width than Flanno or Enrique. Furthermore, at times last season one of our front 2 would drift out to the wing to change it up.
