So pumped for this game. I just pray it isn't as emotional as our game this time last season. That missed penalty almost killed me.

Supposedly Lucas is starting ahead of Can today.

I always feel comfortable with Lucas in the side. If we sort our defence out which I think we have then letting in stupid goals may be a thing of the past

Worst day today. Stayed up until 5am watching every other sh*t club play thinking I'd wake up mid afternoon and not have to wait all day for kick off.

Woke up at 9am with 13 hours until kick off. Torture.

Poor as a pair last season and with plenty of options now I'd hope Brendan has learned that lesson.

Same, It's either Lucas or Gerrard, but seeing as we are playing at home, I'd rather not see us playing with a trio of, Gerrard, Henderson & Can/Allen. Would prefer Coutinho in one of the roles.

Another thing I want to add, been speaking to a Southampton fan, he says their defense is much better than last season, and with Forster signed up, we're gonna have a difficult time breaking them down.

Starting XI:
Mignolet, Manquillo, Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Gerrard (c), Lucas, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge.

Disappointed with our midfield three, fully agree its Gerrard or Lucas. Would much rather see the legs of Allen or Can in there or Henderson deeper with Coutinho furthest forward. Lucas simply doesn't offer enough as a passer to play anywhere other than the deepest role. Also surprised to see young Manquillo get a start but I'm guessing Enrique isn't yet back to full fitness.

Can and Allen there if needed folks. chill

more worried about Johnson tbh. but probably only playing due to injuries.

Cant wait for Moreno to get into that squad. Will be a solid back line.

Lucas for Can is an odd one. Revising my prediction to 2-0!
