a very difficult game and not confident after the saints game. I expect Allen in for Lucas. We will have a better bench though as Moreno is now available but there is no way him and Manquillo are starting. Their main weaknesses are 2 in midfield with Yaya not the most industrious at times, and the lack of pace from Dimicheles. A pressing 4 3 3 with Gerrard Allen and Henderson would be great. Hopefully Markovic can make the bench. I'd take a draw all day long..

I know everyone's keen to get rid of Johnson, but do you really think Moreno's first taste of English football is going to be against the defending league champs at their ground? Seems a bit of a risk tbh, though I'd still start Moreno anyway hah

Manquillo was handed a start immediately so why not hand Moreno one?

All due to respect to Southampton, but they finished 8th. City, obviously, were the champs. Plus Manquillo was able to get a match in vs Dortmund.

      I'd go with...

                              Mignolet

         Manquillo   Skrtel     Lovren    Moreno

                                Gerrard
                     Hendo                Can

                              Coutinho

                  Sterling            Sturridge

Subs: Jones, Johnson, Sakho, Lucas, Allen, Markovic, Lambert

Think we'll win this 1 - 2. they do have some boss players individually, but i'm sure our pace will trouble them and give them something else to think about. We beat them at ours last season, and I'm sure they all know we would have beat them at theirs but for the crap ref. They'll deffo be after a win, but i think they'll also be very cautious as we seem to have had the upper hand for a while now, even though it didn't always culminate in a win. As long as we set up the midfield with  four and one in front of the back 4, with the wide midfield players raiding down the flanks, we can out gun them, and stay strong defensively.

People may disagree with me but I'd opt for Allen over Can or Lucas. He's just a little more experienced than the former and a lot more mobile than the latter.

I feel that Fernando (if he plays) will be City's key player. He'll need to cut off the supply to Coutinho but hopefully Rodgers would have worked on avoiding this come Monday.

One player we didn't have in this fixture last season was Sturridge. He can be the difference next week.

Can for me, without a shadow of a doubt. Bullied them in pre-season, could see him dominating the midfield.

I'd be happy with a draw. Very tough game so early in the season. Can or Allen in for Lucas and keep the rest the same. Wouldn't throw Moreno in just yet.

I don't know why so many people are suggesting this.

Could he do anymore harm to the team than GJ right now?

Very tricky game to call, we have to play a lot better than we did in the first game and I believe we will, but City aren't quite firing on all cylinders either. I know it sounds silly but it all comes down to which team can get the sh*t together quickest, I have a sneaky feeling we can win but it will be tight.

I'm with the majority here and think Moreno should definetly start against Citeh instead of Glen J but I just can't see Brendan doing it. Glen J must have something on BR that makes him play him week in week out.

3 points would be fantastic at the Etihad but I would not be too upset if we walked away with a well deserved draw.

I would take a draw all day long. We look well short of sharpness and if it was at home I would be more confident, but there can't be much tougher places to visit so early on.
      0-0 would be almost perfect.
