Seeing Mario Balotelli in a red shirt next to Steven Gerrard is one of the most deplorable things I have seen in football comparable only to seeing Neymar next to Lionel Messi.Thing is,the majority of football fans (and players) put winning above everything else, and could give a F**k about how reprehensible a character this guy is as long as he gives us results. If you were a Chelsea fan, would you be embarrassed by Diego Costa,by Mourinho? Are Real Madrid fans embarrassed by Ronaldo´s tantrums and dives?Would you have a Neymar shirt if you were a Barcelona fan, would you celebrate when you won a game with a penalty he got through diving?
This is the sickness of modern football, success by any means and any people necessary.I wouldn´t expect a fan of Manchester City post 2009/2011 to give a crap about what mercenary they bought to give them titles, but a Liverpool fan?A club that has had Steven Gerrard as it´s symbol all these years? How do we go from a gentleman to a guy that takes pictures with mobsters, uses his team rival´s jersey on tv and breaks up with his girlfriend via text messaging (also on tv).Is this the type of person we want representing us in a red shirt with our shield on their chest?
Point is,if Balotelli were not the lazy-ass fail excuse of a player he is,and racked up 20 goals this season,I would still want him gone, same as I wanted rid of Suarez after the World Cup.I know honor, respect and decency are not practical values to have or demand from other people or players who represent your team, but I will carry them till death and beyond,as they are bigger to me than a person,a club,a sport,a trophy,or millions of trophies.
