Mario Balotelli (Liverpool -> Nice)

My one issue with Mario is that he is slow.
Slow when running with the ball.
Slow when working out what to do with it.
Slow at seeing runs.
Slow at being creative.

If he has the impulse to shoot though, he just does it....and does it quickly.

But any other area of his game at the moment is very pedestrian.

I know that we would never find a player like Suarez that could slot it and be a threat and have the pace he has with and without the ball but to me, when Mario plays we lack basically all the similar cutting threat that we had last season.

No saying all of that, he is a different type of player completely from Luis. It's not at all a like for like purchase.

He has great qualities and we have to harness them.

Its just that at the moment we are all at sea and not realizing we have to evolve to get the best out of him.

Likeable character, but how much we can change Mario, regarding work ethic etc is a different matter.

I think to see the best in him, or for him to reach his full potential, he needs to play as the target man and stay routed centrally and to be in the box more often when we attack.

Has to be one of the most over rated players I've ever seen, you can see he has the potential but is so selfish and up his own arse it's unbelievable.

Don't rate him at all, negative I know but his movement for a striker is so so poor. Never on the shoulder of the defenders but I hope he improves with Sturridge in the side

People used to say that Suarez wasn't clinical enough to be a top striker....  I also remember hearing that Studge had attitude problems that would keep him from ever being a top class player.... 

Balo has been here for little over a month.  Can we give him (and the rest of the team for that matter) some time to find some rhythm and chemistry to before we write him off?

Balotelli DOES have the ability to get to some level or other.
Unfortunately, the football world doesn't seem to think he wants it enough. Thats why he went for 16m and why other clubs were so lukewarm about him.

Anelka at 19 was just ridiculously good, Thierry Henry or higher level. Balotelli was very good. But he doesn't seem to have progressed that much. I think there can be an analogy made between the two.

But either way, the balls in HIS court, not ours. He can be our Cantona, or another Collymore. His choice.

Personally, I'd shake my head in disbelief when people said he wasnt a natural striker..

I think that if we can get him and Studge playing together then we will see the best of him.  Our best (and only good) performance of the season so far came when they were playing together, and so I will reserve judgement until they have played a bit more.
