Can spot the F***ing beauts already crying like little drama queens.

They would never have lasted in our support in the 80s!

Ahh, the clutching at straws thread

The vast majority, everybody but you really, would describe it as 'the optimism of a true LFC supporter thread'.

Lallana looked bright and I wouldn't have taken him off.

Otherwise nothing at all....I was very disappointed.

Same opinion here. The rest are gutless, sad to say, no fight no determination as if we're the away team.

Am I the only one that saw Markovic running at players?  I am! OK then!

Not sure about that he was a bit conservative in that he would attempt to run at somebody then usually pass it on rather than take his man on. Which is strange because that is supposed to be his forte in beating the oppo in a 1:1 situation.
      Probably just home debut nerves.

Agree with some folks saying that the 4-2-3-1 won't work for us. The few matches we played this season showed us that we need to play with 2 strikers. So, BR has to come upe with someone to play alongside Mario, while Stu is injured.

      Adam
      Downing
      Carroll
      Cole

      & Spearing didn't play.

      That's all I have.

We gave a scrappy goal away early on and that set them up to get 11 men behind the ball and defend deep for the next hour or so. It would have been difficult for any team to break it down if I'm honest.

However, I will get take some positives away. Llalana looked bright, not at his best (understandable given he's just back) but still bright. I actually thought Balo had a good game, he was taking on their players and causing problems...and not reacting to the deliberate targeting he was receiving. Coutinho looked really sharp even though it's difficult to play against such a tightly packed last 3rd. We actually had some options on the bench. Being able to bring on Sterling and Lambert was good (we would have had no options last year) and we still have Sturridge and Can to come back - the depth is looking better.
We had huge posession. Our passing and ball retention is becoming our strengths. We actually out-passed City in their ground for the first half and we controlled the posession against Villa. It's another improvement to our game.

So, I don't think it was as big a disaster as some are making it out to be on Saturday. There were a number of factors, which created a "perfect storm" for us and we failed to break them down. That is something we have to work on. But it wasn't a complete sh*t show that people are claiming it was.

Was it? Reason enough to be happy with a spawny win then.It was good to get 3 points from a game we didn't deserve it from.

We won, Balotelli got his first goal, Gerrard showed again how to take a pressure penalty and again we won a game where we could easily have lost points.

Got what we wanted after underperforming, (means having the hang of this competition)

Balo's clinical scoring ability surfaced, (got off the mark, with right attitude he can start rolling)

Stevie's cold-blood is still there (will come in handy along the way)

Lesson to be tought from Ludogorets goal in the minute scored ( having a feeling of "mission complete" by being only one goal up you can be punished for - may come in handy as well).

Don't expect to see much in here, but I'll give it a shot:

      - Sterling took his goal well
      - At least we didn't ship 5 goals to a newly promoted side

Well in the grand scheme of things the result won't hurt as much given the other results this round.

Apart from our inability to create chances, I think more of these results are inevitable.
