I don't know why but this 4-2-3-1 formation really fucks us over. Nothing happens in front of Gerrard and Hendo and we get absolutely nowhere. Need a whole new game plan here.

      The latter then.

Paul lambert is a c**t, old skool get at them tactics.

Tbf he's done it every time he's come to Anfield and it's worked every time (so far). We should be the ones able to find a solution to those tactics.

I'd put that firmly at Roy Keane's door! Always was a dirty player, he should have stuck at punditry, he's less dangerous doing that.

Balotelli is getting kicked the sh*t out of yet the only player who looks strong going forward as well as Markovic.

Think we need Sterling on for Coutinho and take I from there.

Don't understand why Sterling wasn't on from the start personally.

I'd like to see him turn and run at them most of his passes go straight back to whoever passes to him.

Oh man, how much do I miss suarez now. It was in matches like these, he used to produce some magic. Anyhow, not our greatest half but it seems like we managed to get into the game at the end there.

Not a big fan of Mario, never have been. so hoping for that the boss put lambert in the second half. We can still do this. COYR

Really flat half. Villa could be 2 up. Not much happening for us up front. Only the odd raking ball from SG is putting some pace into our forward play.
Markovic again anonymous and Lallana quiet too. Coutinho started poorly but improved. Mario's done some nice things but is a bit isolated.
If it doesn't change will probably see Sterling and Lambert, reckon for Markovic and Lallana.
Why the hell are we always like this against Villa, tentative and slow in the build up. CMON BOYS!!!!!!!!!

Lovren and Sakho don't look comfortable. lallana not fit and Coutinho isn't creating. For me we need someone up top with Mario and switch back to the diamond. Get Borini on, he says he wants to fight for his place so lets see what hes got.

      Weak by us that.

We look so shaky in defence it's alarming, every single set piece is heart in mouth still.

Think Manquillo has done well but there's not many others who can be happy enough with their half. Especially shocked Lallana is playing judging him on his fitness as he looks miles away, I hope. Having not watched much of him before the world cup he looks painfully slow at the moment.

The creativity level is too low as nobody is taking responsibility, it's all too safe. Coutinho has been very, very disappointing again. Balo is getting nobody up with him and it's hopefully just this formation as it never seems to suit us and I think it needs throwing away as there's no nice link up play really.

Everyone needs to do better than that though, really disappointed watching it until about 10 minutes before half time.

That senderos idiot is a dirty b**tard trying to get balo to re-act and kicked balo for nothing. The ref and linesman are blind. If I were Balo I'd punish him by running rings around him. We gave them too much respect, particularly their defence. We're totally lost when our ball gets into their half. trying to play football too neat. I'd say just run at them and make them sweat.

      Slow, pedestrian, and no width

There's a lot of players out there who haven't played with one another outside of training

      Lallana
      Markovich
      Manquillo
      Moreno
      Balotelli

We look like we need to gel as a cohesive unit

Mario has been decent, great to see him back tracking to get the ball and helping out the team, especially when so many said that's what he lacked in his game. Our defending is shocking, need to seriously improve it.

Still plenty of time to turn this around though.

I thought lallana is playing well, at least he tried to create something and run at their defence while Coutinho was running away from the goal with all the side and back passes.

Coutinho needs to get some consistency, he's either amazing or rubbish, never in between. I'd rather he played at 70% every week than 30% here, and 100% there....

It's difficult for us when they decided to park the bus after their goal, and with lack of movement up top, It's not looking good :(

Whether it's Borini or Lambert, I want to see a 2nd striker come on, along with Sterling. I would take Lallana and Markovic off.

      What a lot of sh*t.

Lovren looks clueless at defending corners.  He grapples and then as soon as the ball is hit he runs backwards away from the player - totally bizarre!

Balotelli not seen a lot of the ball - Villa have done their job very well.  Looking forward to plan B which is MUCH needed here.  At the minute best we can get from this would be a draw.

senderos should be looking at retrospective action for that kick out & I think he kicked out before that after a scuffle with balo, well Lee Mason is in charge what do you expect
