      Wouldn't surprise me mate.

The year we won our first European Cup, we finished 1st in the League.
The year we won our second European Cup, we finished 2nd in the League.
The year we won our fifth European Cup, we finished 5th in the League.

      6th of June !!?  thats late isn't it ?..

That's what I thought but apparently that's the date set for the final.

Season ends on the 24th, FA Cup final on the 30th of May, European Cup on 6th June. Suppose that's what happens when they move the final to a Saturday.

The funny thing is that I was thinking the same thing....though without all the stats and arguments made by DLS.
I we can get to the quarters at the least.
If we are starting to gel and don't have too any injuries or a crazy fixture pileup, I can see us going the whole way. Honestly.
We seem to do well when we are under rated, a work in progress and the odds against us.
Stevie's penner is exactly the slice of luck that bodes well for us.
I am going to put some dosh on number 6 coming our way during a glorious summer.

In 2004/05 we beat Middlesbrough in the League Cup by scoring 2 goals at Anfield and a Liverpool academy graduate, Neil Mellor, scored his first goal for the senior side in that game. We ended the season by winning the European Cup.
