Starting XI: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Enrique, Gerrard, Can, Henderson, Lallana, Sterling, Balotelli

Subs: Jones, Toure, Lambert, Coutinho, Manquillo, Allen, Markovic

Summer signing Emre Can will make his starting debut for Liverpool when the Reds return to Barclays Premier League action against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road this afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers has opted to make four changes to the team he fielded during the important 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at Anfield two weeks ago.

Can, who returns from a six-week ankle-injury lay-off, replaces Philippe Coutinho in midfield to make a third appearance for the club since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in July.

Rodgers has made two changes to his defence. Spanish full-backs Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo come out of the starting XI - and they are replaced by Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson.

Up front, Mario Balotelli is restored to the line-up in place of Rickie Lambert, while Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling retain their starting berths.

Joe Allen, who has not featured for the Reds since their 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on August 31, makes a welcome return to a strong substitutes' bench.

      Nice one Clint,  A+

Good to have Emre back, Hope he can kick his season off from here, Jose at lb, is Moreno injured or just rested?
Got plenty to deal with QPR,  should be back to winning ways, love to see a hatful today but I'd settle for a scrappy 0-1,

Surprised to see Moreno dropped from the match day squad completely, wonder if there's illness/injury involved there?

As for the team, I doubt we are indeed shoving Raheem further up top to partner Balotelli:

                                   Mig
                Johnson Skrtel Lovren Enrique
                                Gerrard
                       Henderson   Can
                               Lallana
                         Sterling Balotelli

but I'm not convinced we're lining up like this, though it would be nice to get a big enough cushion in the game to try it out. More likely the 4-2-3-1.

With Hendo/Can/Lallana we should be full of energy in midfield, hopefully that's enough to roll over QPR.

3 points in any fashion is the order of the day though.

I like the look of that team to be honest and believe we might line up like this...

We'll stuff them - nothing tricky about it.

If we have to go with a lone striker then, for me, it would be this:

                                  Balotelli
         Lallana               Gerrard         Sterling

                        Can             Henderson

In fact, being totally honest... I'm really glad to see both Glen and Jose back. I'm feeling good about my bet.  8)

Another fantastic matchday OP Clint  :gt-happyup:

If as rumoured Stevie's playing behind Balo I see Can as the DM with Hendo in front, Lallana and Sterling on the flanks.  Our FB's aren't as offensive as earlier games and both Sterling and Lallana can defend from the front by pressing hard or tracking back if needed, so we've plenty of cover without leaving ourselves as open.

      1-3 to the Redmen.

Interesting take on that 'debs - I have to disagree tho' - I believe that they're every bit as 'attacking' and with more control, which comes with experience. They won't let us down.  ;)

Gerrard might actually be playing behind Mario, seeing as Can is a Defensive Midfielder. Can't see any other reason to introduce Can in to the starting 11 right after the international break. Must have been doing some things in training with Balo, Gerrard and Can all at the club over the break.

Probably a good decision playing Johnson and Enrique today, both are more defensively minded than Moreno and Manquillo, and they were at the club over the break as well.

Maybe I worded it wrong Mouse, they're more defense minded, won't wander quite so far up the pitch leaving us as exposed as the young lads do.

Put like that 'debs - I agree.  ;)

Still... they'll be 'up the pitch' plenty and will play a big part - maybe even putting a couple on a plate for Mario.  ;D

Yep, on goal differential, couple teams have a game in hand on us, but we really need a win today. 4-0 would do quite nicely.

Not happy with Johnson starting. He must be an absolute beast in training because he does F**k all on the pitch on matchday.
