BR is not gonna play his best team in this competition nor are gonna other teams
of course im gonna watch what are we doing here but players arent motivated enough for this

You didn't ask about the validity of the competition you asked if we could win it.

The competition is only frowned upon because that's what people want you to believe.. If we win it I'll celebrate it like any other trophy

Plus it gets us back in the CL

Yes I think we can and should try to win it

ok ok,but i honestly think we can not win this with this kind of play we have right now, especially when in the competition are teams like napoli, fiorentina, villareal, inter, wolfsburg, sevilla etc.
are u seriously thinking that if we tomorow meet napoli that we could win?

wouldn't want to go through much more of the crap from last night. No passion no structure no plan.
We are still looking at 1 decent performance so far this season so how anyone can talk about positives is beyond me.

I agree, the last thing we wanna see is no passion. I just don't understand why BR would play 4 holding midfielders in a game we had to win! Its beyond me.

It never lost it's importance. It lost it's prestige in the shadow of the more glamorous alternative. This year we were not good enough in the other competition, so we get to play this one until we are.

The European Cup has it's fair share of unattractive games and dull groups. What it does have is mass media coverage and a bottomless pit of cash. That's the only difference between them.

I have no problem with playing Thursday nights and Sundays. We have to play the next two Sundays as it is, and that's nothing to do with the UEFA Cup. We may not win this ccompetition, but we may as well give it a go, and it's better than nothing.

      Possibile opponents are these ones:
Borussia Monchengladbach, Club Brugge, Besiktas, Dynamo Moscow, Inter, Feyenoord, Napoli, Dynamo Kiev, Fiorentina, Legia Warsaw, Olympiakos, Sporting Lisbon, Athletic Bilbao, Zenit St. Petersburg
       ;)

Hopefully someone can clear this up but apparantly, Everton can't play European Cup teams because they won their group. If that's the case, that would apply to all group winners, which means we can't face Napoli. (However, having won our group, we played St. Petersburg two years ago.)

Not sure whether we can play other European Cup sides from this season either.

Winning it gets us champions league, is this at the expense of fourth place
.? If so would be nice if we did just that and the mancs got fourth.

The draw for the Europa League is scheduled for midday today.

The teams left in it are:

      Liverpool
      Borussia Monchengladbach
      Club Bruges
      Besiktas
      Red Bull Salzburg
      Dinamo Moscow
      Inter Milan
      Feyenoord
      Everton
      Napoli
      Dynamo Kiev
      Fiorentina
      Legia Warsaw
      Olympiacos
      Sporting Lisbon
      Athletic Bilbao
      Zenit
      Villarreal
      Torino
      Tottenham
      Celtic
      PSV
      Dnipro
      Sevilla
      Wolfsburg
      Young Boys
      AaB
      Guingamp
      Trabzonspor
      Anderlecht
      Ajax
      Roma

Following our poor performance in the champions league we are unseeded too so we are likely to face one of the bigger teams.

I think this could be a blessing in disguise. We didn't expect to be out of the Champions League before Christmas but if we are honest with ourselves, how much further would we have got? We would have faced one of the groups winners in the knock out rounds and therefore probably gone straight out in the last 16.

Our poor form in the league means we have another shot at qualifying for the Champions League providing we win the Europa League. Looking at the sides left in it, I fancy us over any of them - if we get a grip of ourselves!

4th place is looking more unlikely as each week goes by, so I'd go as far as saying that we should now make the Europa League our priority. Winning it is essential in my opinion.

Teams we can be drawn against:

Borussia Monchengladbach, Club Bruges, Besiktas, Red Bull Salzburg, Dinamo Moscow, Inter Milan, Feyenoord, Napoli, Dynamo Kiev, Fiorentina, Legia Warsaw, Olympiacos, Sporting Lisbon, Athletic Bilbao, Zenit.

Don't fancy us against any of them to be honest.
