Well for me, Delph has hardly stood out at Villa and he's not surrounded by great players. So on that rationale, he isn't good enough for us.

He's a good player at a mid to bottom half PL team. I that what we aspire to?

Would be a decent addition I think but not Gerrard nor Lucas replacement.

Didn't know Delph is available on a free in the summer. If we're willing to sell Lucas now to spend £7m on Delph then it's evidently clear that we've learnt nothing from past mistakes in the transfer market. A £7m fee now must mean we value him at about 15m, that's outrageous, he's average!

If I'm not wrong Jordan was 21 when we signed him and had shown some glimpses of real talent to develop.
Delph is 25 and to my eye apart from being quite mobile never really shown much.

And any way why are you so bloody obsessed with Jordan he plays in a slightly different position to Delph.

Are you upset Diame has not been suggested?

I'm not obsessed with Henderson, I'm obsessed with the acceptance of mediocrity at our club.

Here is the harsh reality: there is not much between Delph and Henderson.

They are both mediocre midfielders who looked decent at mid-table clubs but never should have been signed.  We need top, top class midfielders.  We are Liverpool Football Club.  Jordan Henderson is not and will never be a top class midfielder.  neither will Joe Allen for that matter.  end of.

So, if you don't want Delph, fine.  I don't either.  But don't sit there and pretend like Henderson is some sort of class above Delph.  if Henderson is good enough for us, then so is Delph.

I happen to think that neither is good enough.

I will agree with you that we could do with a player with greater ability than Jordan and have stated his limitations many times.

I certainly don't agree with you that he is no better than Delph, I'm at work so can't access the stats but I'm sure Jordan has scored more goals and had more assists in his career than Delph.

Bullshit. Hendo is a much better player than Delph.

      take off the red-tinted glasses.

      both are shockingly average.

only difference is, one plays for us, the other plays for.... not us.

so we tend to rate our sh*te better than other sh*te.

But sh*te is sh*te in the end.

I would put Delph about equal to Allen both are mediocre but useful squad players.

Hendo, however, offers and contributes far more to the first team. He is also getting back to the level he was at last season where he was indispensable to the team. Proven by how much he was missed in midfield against Chelsea and Palace in the title challenge run in.

      Yeah yeah

      Hendo's sh*te

      Gerrard's a disloyal c**t

But Diame and half the players at Newcastle who consistently finish below us are superior to ours

High chance of this happening I'd say. It's financial engineering. Get him for free then move Lucas on for £7m. May be cheaper to hire too. Fantastic piece of business for FSG disregarding future performance. It's always been money, money and more money with FSG.

I just hope that the people on the "committee" are more realistic than our supporters.

we're never going to get anywhere if we seriously think Henderson is a top talent.

top talents were a midfield three of Masch, Xabi and Stevie in his prime.

now apparently Henderson is a top talent.  ok then.

They are realistic - about enhancing shareholder value, not fan value. That's a very practical thing to do. We are not their priority...

Completely depressing. I imagine the mancs or the arse will go for Khedira, strengthening them even further whilst we "hound" after Delph, who probably isn't as good as Lucas.

      Are we linked to Reid?
Milner is on our list too.
