It's free. So this will probably go through.

If it's free it's nailed on.

Aren't the press just putting two and two together here ? If we sign Milner will it not be play right mid/wing back whatever you want to call it, why would he be Stevie's replacement ?. The two aren't linked at all for me.

He played (by far) his best football in the centre of midfield for Villa and considering the fact he'll be 29 this year maybe he wouldn't want to keep going up and down the touchline so signing him to play in Stevie's position does make sense (because let's face it we're not going to spend the big bucks).

His situation is similar to Joe Cole!!! Midfielder, not played regularly by his club, is around 29 years of age, England man, and then we sign him for free!!!

So what happened to Joe Cole? How much value did he add after we got him for free???
They've played so many minutes of football and I fear they'll suddenly switch off after joining us.

I'm actually shocked that one of our top targets for the summer is a 30 year old utility player on a free.

Political stuff from his agent is all

Dropping this in the press to push City along.. Get a big deal from them

City won't want to lose him as he adds to their home grown numbers, yet he plays enough to justify both sides, Milner wants more from them on his last big deal and they won't want to lose an English based player who it would cost millions to replace in the open market. It's not like Rodwell or Sinclair, he actually plays and adds value

I'd be sure he signs and stays before the summer

You're probably right mate. The only caviat I would add is that he is 29 and realistically, the Euro 2016 is probably his last shot at playing at an international tournemant with England. Perhaps he wants more regular football to stay in the England team? Wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.

      This will not happen ,
don't think we are in for him, we all know what is our strategy on wages, can't see a 30 year old coming here and have a  big wage cut,
IMHO i think  his agent is leaking this so he can get a big contract offer for his player and for himself
won't be so sad if he really comes though

Read over the weekend it's length of contract rather than wage demands mate. He wants a 4 year deal.

I'd think a deal will be done with them personally

Wage or length of contract add up to pretty much the same thing Jon... If he won't sign until he gets what he wants.

Thought the same, whether it's more money or length of contract he is attempting to squeeze Citeh.
I'd like him to squeeze 'till the balls pop as Citeh are a little light in the midfield dept. right now.
It has been reported that Milner has been offered a three year contract worth £80k a week instead of the four year deal he would prefer, if that is the case he should realistically be ripping their hands off.

Liverpool and the Arse are waiting in the wings as events unfold.

I'd deffo take him, great little player and will improve us a lot. 8 goals and 6 assists from 17 starts plus 14 apeparances from the bench. Plus he's a battler, we seriously lack battlers and experience in the team right now so it will come in handy. Still has 3 seasons in him on top of his game, would be a great signing.

Mark my words when I say Milner will be signed as our Gerrard replacement this Summer and will be hailed by Rodgers as a "fantastic world class talent with tremendous character".

I hope he isn't lauded as SG's replacement mate, and I don't think he's world class, but I would agree he has great character and I would be pleased if he was at Anfield next year.

I would be seriously worried if Milner is our only midfielder brought in during the summer.
