Looks like Dr Zaf has left the club - must have realised there will be no signings this season so what's the point.

I guess fingering Sturridge's ass was not the solution to his thigh injuries.

I don't want to live anymore if Zaf is gone

      But this was interesting:

Melwood-based Dr Iqbal was responsible for the medical treatment of all players. He would put prospective new signings through their medicals and sit on the bench on matchdays.

He also assisted the club's medical and sport science teams in devising daily fitness programmes for each player.

We've been pretty unfit and riddled with injuries -- preventable injuries -- this year. That and the team looked so jaded while trying to cope with Champions League. We were slower, pressed less, less energetic, etc.

      There goes the occasional photo on the club website. No worries we'll replace him with 4 doctors from Southampton who'll take turns shoving their thumbs up Sturridge's pooper and checking if Pascoe's legs are sunburnt from wearing those shorts;

A cost cutting measure from FSG, they'll probably hire Johnny Vegas as a replacement.

If we hire no one else then I'd agree.

But maybe we've identified someone else to replace him.

A large backroom staff is essential - that was one of he reasons for Ferguson's success at United. It wasn't his 'genius', it was his ability to find the best expansive backroom staff available.

What Rene Meulensteen said about Rodgers needing to strengthen and add to the backroom staff was true. He acknowledged Rodgers was a brilliant manager but the best clubs who were in the Champions League also had a large backroom staff.

Somehow, I have the suspicion that FSG think we can make do with a small coaching and fitness team. Perhaps Rodgers believes this too, but look at all the big clubs and the coaching and fitness team is massive. It doesn't take anything away from the managers authority, its like a battle, the bigger the battle, the more generals.

In a battle on all fronts, it's impossible to fight with a small team of men, backroom staff included. It is fine for Swansea but Liverpool is a different matter. FSG must extend the remit for coaches and fitness experts at this club - but somehow I get this impression they would quite happily cut back on the coaching staff.

i always thought he was dodgy especially with Alexander Doni, how did we buy a player with heart problems?

I assume this is probably we steered clear of Remy. We had one nearly die on us.

So we've probably spotted there's always St. John's Ambulance guys around on matchday and said to Zac he needed to cut his hours.

He wasn't sold on the idea.

Shame, because he was a supporter before he became club doctor. Maybe that's the plan, rid the club of those who have LFC in their hearts, Carra, Stevie, the doc who next I wonder?

Or maybe our medical training program has gone to sh*t and seeing how he runs it got him the ax.

Mate, you cannot put that at the door of Zaf, one man alone cannot be responsible for all those injuries.

Suppose someone has to take blame.

Ludicrous, he was the Club Doctor, he was not responsible for training, we have other professionals who oversee that.

Can't seriously be accusing FSG of that in this case? There are higher earners than what he was that they could easily have gotten rid of.

Nah, just a bit of tongue in cheek to the fact that I believe FSG don't match the ambition of the fans and would quite happily cost cut to the backroom staff in ways that are seriously detrimental to the team.

I was not blaming him for every issue we have but at the end of the day who is/was the leading physician at Melwood and the club.

But yeah what Shabs said somebody has to be responsible

Would not be surprised if that group that has been working with Daniel come in and take over now.
